🌊 Toothill takes on Beach Week 2026! ☀️

Last week, some of our explorers enjoyed a fantastic week at Avon Beach. A much-loved MLE tradition spanning almost 14 years, we swapped our dusty woodlands for sandy shores once again!

🐳 From exploring fascinating rocks and seashells, creating rock pools, and riding the waves on our trusty “boat” (paddleboard), to using our bushcraft skills to craft beautiful seashell necklaces, our explorers adapted to and embraced the environment with ease. On the windier days, we transformed blankets into pirate dens and settled down with seaside stories.

It takes plenty of planning and an amazing team to make Beach Week happen, but seeing the children’s enjoyment makes every moment worth it. 💙🏖️

This week we have been learning all about Bees at our Wi******er site 🐝 🐝

Sophie (one of our lovely practitioners) is a bee keeper so bought in all her equipment which the children found fascinating.

They also really enjoyed trying some local honey from Otterbourne and some of Sophies honey which has set on a frame.

What a wonderful few weeks at Toothill enjoying the beauty of May! 🌿🐞 From hunting for beetles, caterpillars and spiders to creating mini-beast crafts and our extra-long wood cookie caterpillar🐛✨

We also celebrated World Bee Day with lots of black and yellow activities and delicious crumpets toasted on the fire with local honey! 🐝🍯🔥

Welcoming in the month of May with dancing around the maypole, watching colourful patterns come to life, hapazome, and creating beautiful flower crowns to celebrate Beltane 🌼✨

We shared stories together in the peaceful woodlands and our preschoolers had a brilliant time experimenting with gravity on the slide! 💛🌿

A week of cooking and crafting at Toothill 🌿✨

With our spring/summer menus back, our older children have been enjoying longer woodland days — cooking their own lunches over the campfire and building confidence and fun motor skills preparing the veggies! 🥒

Our farm animal theme inspired some brilliant wooden pig creations 🐷, and we’ve been carefully observing our duck eggs, spotting veins and getting excited for them to hatch soon 🐣

From watching diggers at work 🚜 to creating beautiful Hapa Zome leaf prints 🍃, it’s been a wonderful week full of hands-on learning and working together with our friends 💚

An egg-tastic week at Toothill! 🐣🌼

We’ve been getting into the Easter spirit with themed crafts, making cards and crowns, decorating eggs with natural materials. The children loved working together on exciting Easter egg hunts across the meadow, using treasure maps to track down hidden eggs 🗺️🥚 We also toasted hot cross buns on the fire for a delicious treat!

The children headed out on a woodland walk and discovered a smooth newt — a fascinating find that everyone was eager to see up close 🌿

There was also lots of fun inside an adult-sized cardboard box (thanks to Sam’s garden furniture delivery! 😄), which became a brilliant new space for stories and imaginative play.
