Shaping futures since 1926!

As we welcome the children back for the start of the autumn term, we proudly celebrate 100 years of our school's history. This significant milestone gives us the opportunity to reflect on a century of inspiring young minds, nurturing talents and shaping boundless futures.

Our original proprietorial school was founded at Stroud House, Grayswood, Surrey, in 1926. It was a small day school with around 25 boys. In 1946, the school moved to Zeals House, near Mere in Wiltshire, before settling at its present location between Romsey and Wi******er in 1953.

After more than fifty years of stewardship by the Sanger-Davies family, the school became part of the King Edward VI family of schools in 2012. This marked the start of an exciting new era while preserving the values and spirit that had long defined Stroud. This evolution continued with our transition to King Edward VI Preparatory School in September 2024 and the formation of the KES Group in 2026.

At our recent centenary celebration launch event, our Head, Mrs Rebecca Smith said, "We are incredibly proud of our past. We are deeply grateful for our present community. And we are hugely excited for the future we are building together."

Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic time in Normandy on what was a wonderful final residential trip before moving on to Senior School.

During the visit, they explored Pegasus Bridge, experienced the Circular Cinema, and paid their respects at the British Normandy Memorial, learning more about the history of the D-Day landings. Another highlight was ordering lunch in Arromanches independently and putting their language skills into practice in a real-life setting.

They spent an action-packed day at Bayeux Aventure Parc, where fun, teamwork, and adventure were the order of the day, before finishing with delicious ice cream at 'La Hazerie'. Most importantly, this trip was about making memories. Together, the children shared new experiences, strengthened friendships, and enjoyed special moments with their teachers. The laughter, enthusiasm, and camaraderie made this a truly unforgettable adventure.

As they prepare to take the next exciting step into Senior School, this trip was the perfect final hurrah for our Year 6 pupils—a celebration of friendship, independence, and all they have achieved together.

Merci, Normandie, for the memories!

What a brilliant residential trip Year 4 have had at Hooke Court! From the moment they arrived, the children embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, curiosity and a positive attitude!

The adventure began with an exciting exploration of forces, culminating in the launch of their own rockets. Throughout the residential, the children immersed themselves in a range of Viking-themed activities, including making runes, preparing food, building structures and learning about Viking life through hands-on experiences.

From start to finish, the children represented the school brilliantly, showing resilience, kindness, enthusiasm and excellent behaviour. The whole trip was full of learning, laughter, friendship and unforgettable memories, making it a truly wonderful experience for everyone involved.

Our Year 3 to 6 Sports Day may have been a little later this year due to the hot weather, but it was certainly worth the wait! It was wonderful to see the children giving it their all with big smiles on their faces. A special thank you to our amazing sports staff for making it happen.

The children showcased their talents across a wide range of events, including shot put, javelin, long jump, high jump, hurdles, relay races and sprints. It was a wonderful opportunity for the whole school community to come together, celebrate achievement and enjoy a fun, memorable day filled with enthusiasm and school spirit.
