Come with us to a light up trail at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens.

We had a great time as a family - even with older and younger ones, there was something for everyone.

The staff were amazing - and the stop off half way - at the Christmas village to have toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate 🫶

Two years of advocating for families while on the changes needed in the system.

In the background - I have also been supporting my own neurodivergent family to find balance and self-belief - outside of the typical systems.

2025 was a wild ride - there has been a lot to navigate.

But we have done it!

The amount of movies I see that I now relate to neurodivergence is kinda crazy.

This movie is a scarily accurate representation of systems that disempower and gaslight the ones who try to fight against it.

I absolutely love - but I’ve been unwell so only just got along to see it…

Behaviourist researchers have for years asserted that autistic people lack empathy.

In reality, often autistic children are simply not as focused on appeasing others through their communication, often because they speak more plainly.

This can stem from the way they acquire language - it is not a 'feelings difference' it is a communication difference.

In fact, many autistic children have a very strong sense of wanting other's to be treated fairly and want those around them to feel happy and okay.

Autistic children who are treated with kindness and empathy - learn the language to express gratitude and empathy to others. whether this is in spoken words or gestures.

A forehead touch, a bop on the nose, a moment of calm and togetherness.

Autistic empathy is valid - it is our job to notice it in all its forms.

In 2026, I need to shout louder.

There are plans to introduce more training around neurodiversity.

There are plans to create spaces that are more environmentally appropriate for neurodivergent children and young people.

But let’s be honest - these changes only skim the surface.

Neurodivergent children don’t just need adjustments.

They need an education system that is flexible by design.

The targets neurodivergent children reach, and the age they reach them, are fundamentally different from their non-neurodivergent peers.

And that’s not a failure.

It all comes down to how they access information through their senses.

When a child experiences the world in more detail - or less - it completely changes how they learn and what they learn.

Until the system adapts to this truth, children will continue to be the ones forced to adapt.
