🎃🍂 Pumpkin Fun at Northease! 🍂🎃
Our tutor groups have been getting into the Halloween spirit by carving and decorating their pumpkins during tutor time! 🎃🧡 It’s been wonderful to see everyone getting creative and enjoying some seasonal fun together.

🎭 Last Wednesday, some of our Year 10 students enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the Theatre Royal in Brighton, watching The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. 🎭

✨ The performance brought Mark Haddon’s novel to life through excellent acting, creative staging and impressive special effects. ✨

Our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and represented the school brilliantly. 👏 It was a memorable afternoon for both students and staff, and a lovely opportunity to experience live theatre in a professional setting. 🎟️

🌍 Year 11 Geography Fieldwork! 🥾🌿

Last week, our Year 11 GCSE Geographers ventured into the Surrey Hills to complete their two compulsory fieldwork elements. 📚🗺️

On Wednesday, our students were taking measurements of the River Tillingbourne 🌊 to investigate how the river characteristics change as you move downstream and on Thursday, the group headed to Ashtead and Brockham 🏘️ to explore the impact of London’s Urban Sprawl and the effectiveness of the Metropolitan Green Belt on these two contrasting settlements. 🌳🏙️

Two very different days of fieldwork data collection 📊, but both interesting in their own ways! 🔎

We were so impressed with the group for many reasons: their knowledge in the classroom 🧠, camaraderie in the field 🤝, and how committed they were over two full days to get the job done. 💪👏

💙 Celebrating the incredible teams who make our school such a supportive, inspiring place! 💙

Dyslexia Intervention Team - Introducing Siân Gillies! 🌟

Siân has been a qualified teacher for 30 years, working in a range of schools, but always with a particular interest in supporting students with SEND. She has specifically supported students with Dyslexia for the last 9 years, gaining qualifications and further training with the British Dyslexia Association, PATOSS, Brighton University and Middlesex University to enhance her work. She loves working with the students at Northease who always bring something different with them when they walk through the door. She enjoys planning individual approaches and activities that will appeal to their particular interests and strengths – current themes include skateboarding and horror movies! The most rewarding part is seeing them grow in confidence and as a result, realising for themselves, just how much they can achieve. ❤️🌈✨

First up: our specialist Dyslexia teachers & Intervention Team – Dana and Sian.

Through specialist dyslexia teaching, targeted interventions, study skills sessions, and focused reading and writing support, they help students build confidence and thrive. Their dedication, compassion, and expertise make a real difference every day.

Introducing Dana Gutsell:

A Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Dyslexia Specialist with over 30 years experience in schools, Dana is passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs. Having faced challenges with academic writing herself, she deeply understands her students’ experiences and shows them that success is always achievable. She takes pride in developing strategies that help every student reach their full potential in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Welcome back to all our students, families, and staff! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable Easter break 🐣🌼

As we begin the new term, we’re excited for what promises to be a busy and eventful few weeks ahead. We hope everyone has a positive and successful term, with plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and feel proud of their achievements.
