Spending time outdoors can play an important role in children’s wellbeing, learning, confidence and development.

However, busy routines, safety concerns and limited access to outdoor space can make it harder for families, schools and carers to prioritise time in nature.

Our latest guide shares simple, practical ideas to help children reconnect with the natural world, including:
• Noticing wildlife during everyday routines
• Taking familiar activities outside
• Creating mini adventures
• Growing plants or building nature at home
• Using technology to identify birdsong, insects and wildlife
• Supporting older children with independence and sensible risk-taking

With realistic ideas for all ages, the guide helps make outdoor time feel accessible, enjoyable and worthwhile.

Today marks the end of a very special chapter for our Year 6 children.

You arrived at primary school with so much to discover. Since then, you have grown in ways that cannot always be measured by lessons, certificates or results. You have found your voices, formed lasting friendships, overcome challenges and become the remarkable young people standing before us today.

As you take your next steps, remember that you do not need to have everything figured out. Be brave enough to try, strong enough to keep going and kind enough to lift others along the way. Believe in yourselves, especially on the days when it feels difficult. You are capable of far more than you may yet realise.

We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved, but even prouder of the people you have become. Wherever life takes you, a part of your story will always belong here and you will always be part of our school family.

Good luck, Year 6. Walk forward with courage, hold on to your dreams and never forget just how much potential lies within each of you. The future is waiting, and we cannot wait to see what you do with it. 💚🎓✨

A huge thank you to Mrs Cousins for creating the wonderful video capturing Otto’s journey from a plain bear to the colourful masterpiece now proudly on display Bluewater. It’s a lovely record of all the hard work, creativity and fun that went into bringing Otto to life! 🐻🎨❤️

After weeks of fundraising for the Ellenor Hospice Bear Hunt, we’re delighted that Otto—our very own bear, lovingly painted by our staff and children—is now proudly on display in the FatFace shop window at Bluewater! 🐻💚 If you’re visiting Bluewater, make sure you pop in and say hello to him. We’re incredibly proud to be part of such a special project supporting Ellenor.
