LOST BAG ALERT! 🕵️‍♂️😂

A lonely bag was spotted wandering around the Rec by a parent, apparently enjoying a bit of fresh air without its owner!

It’s now been rescued and is enjoying a well-earned rest in the school office. 🏫

If you’ve recently lost a school bag pop in and claim it!

No ransom required… just proof it’s yours! 😂

We’re making mornings brighter and afternoons tastier at Higham Primary School from Term 2! 🌟

🌞 Breakfast Club
⏰ Earlier 7.45am start (one-term trial)
📍 Moving to the school hall
🍳 Freshly prepared hot and cold breakfasts
🥞 Pancake Wednesdays!
🎉 Even more fun to start the day! Children can enjoy Danny Go!, Cosmic Yoga and immersive interactive games on our big screen, alongside a variety of other fun activities. A great way to have fun with friends and get ready for the school day!

🍝 Afterschool Club
🍕 Delicious freshly cooked teas, Monday to Thursday, for full-session children
🥗 Healthy snacks for short sessions
🍽️ Optional cooked tea for short sessions for just £2.50 extra

👀 Ever wondered what our school governors actually get up to?

Well, here’s a little insight into what goes on behind the scenes at Higham Primary School! 💚

A few weeks ago, we told you that we’d be sharing more about our governors, their roles and the important work they do to support our school.

And as promised, here’s our next update! 👥

Our Chair of Governors, Mr Brian Maynard, has written his latest report, which is now available to read on our school website.

It’s a great opportunity for parents and carers to find out more about the work of our governing body and how they help support the continued development of our school.

Talking to a pupil about their wellbeing can feel daunting, particularly when you are unsure what to say or worried about hearing something concerning.

Our latest guide reminds educators that they do not need to be specialists to provide meaningful support.

The guide explores:
• Building warm, trusting relationships
• Choosing a safe and appropriate place to talk
• Using side-by-side conversations to reduce pressure
• Staying calm when a pupil shares a concern
• Being clear and honest about confidentiality
• Knowing when to involve safeguarding colleagues or seek support yourself

It also includes practical conversation starters to help staff open discussions gently and give pupils space to talk when they are ready.

🐻 LOOK WHO’S BACK AT HIGHAM! 🐻

After a brilliant adventure as part of the Ellenor Dartford Bear Trail, our very special Higham bear has made it safely back to school and we’re so pleased to have him home!

What started as a creative project became something our children could feel genuinely proud of. Their ideas, imagination and hard work helped bring our bear to life before he headed off to join the trail.

Now his travelling days are over, he’ll be staying right here at Higham, where he can be enjoyed by the children, staff and families who helped make him so special. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who visited him on the trail, followed his adventures, shared our posts and supported the project along the way. It was lovely to see so many of our school community getting involved.

The trail may be finished, but our bear has found his forever home. 🐻🏡

💚 Anaphylaxis Awareness Week

This week is Anaphylaxis Awareness Week — a good opportunity to raise awareness of severe allergies and the signs to look out for.

Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that can develop very quickly. Warning signs can include swelling of the tongue or face, difficulty breathing, wheezing, dizziness or collapse.

For someone experiencing anaphylaxis, adrenaline is the first-line treatment and getting help quickly is vital.

At Higham, we know how important it is for staff to be aware of children’s allergies, recognise the signs of a serious reaction and know what to do in an emergency.

A little awareness can make a very big difference. 💚
