🔢🎲 Year 5 took their maths learning outside this week! 🎲🔢
Year 5 enjoyed a fun and engaging LOTC (Learning Outside the Classroom) maths lesson in the playground. They used dice and chalk to explore multiplication and arrays, demonstrating their understanding in a practical and creative way.

The playground was soon full of numbers, colourful arrays and lots of enthusiastic mathematicians! 🌈✏️ It was fantastic to see the children having fun while learning and applying their maths skills in a different environment.

🌟 What a fantastic start to the school year! 🌟

The children in Oak and Ash Class have settled into their new classes incredibly well and are beginning to learn and follow our daily routines. 😊

This week, we have been learning all about ourselves. We started by creating self-portraits using paint, which will soon be displayed proudly on our classroom boards. 🎨🖌️

We have also enjoyed sharing our home learning sheets, which were sent home over the summer holidays, as well as speaking and listening to our friends. The children have been talking about their families and pets and learning about how to look after them. 🏡🐶🐱

We have also been learning that we were all once babies and are now children! The children have enjoyed discussing the things they can do now that they couldn’t do when they were babies. 👶➡️🧒

Of course, we have also enjoyed lots of Busy Body learning time, getting to know our classrooms and continuing our topic learning through a range of exciting enrichment activities. 🌈✨

We are so proud of how well all of the children have settled into school life and can’t wait to see what the rest of the term brings! 💚

📰🎤 YEAR 5 – BREAKING NEWS! 🦁⚽🏆
This week, Year 5 have been working collaboratively to create and record their very own newspaper reports about the Lionesses’ dramatic Euro 2025 victory over Spain! 🇬🇧🏆

After an unforgettable penalty shootout, our budding journalists brought the excitement of the match to life through their reports. They worked brilliantly as a team, developing their communication, speaking and listening skills while presenting the big story.

The children also put our school SHAPE acronym into action, focusing on how to speak clearly, confidently and appropriately when delivering their reports. 🎤✨ They considered their voice, expression, pace and presentation to ensure they communicated their news effectively to their audience.

We were so impressed by their confidence, creativity, teamwork and fantastic oral communication skills! 👏🌟

Fantastic work, Year 5 — you’ve certainly made the headlines! 📰🦁

😀 SCHOOL FETE 😀

We can’t wait to finally welcome you all to our summer fete tomorrow!

If possible, please do bring some change with you to help keep things moving smoothly. As always, we will also be selling tickets for the main prize raffle in front of the office tomorrow morning from 8.15–8.45am. It’s the perfect opportunity to beat the queues or bag yourself some tickets if you aren’t able to make it tomorrow afternoon.

Tickets for the main raffle are just £1, with most of the other games being 50p a play.

Holly class have been using their dictionary skills in reading practise this week, they found the meaning of unfamiliar words from the book 'Charlotte's Web' 🕷️

Magnolia Class have been working on place value up to 1,000 in maths!

Using concrete manipulatives alongside pictorial representations, the children have been using and drawing base-ten blocks to partition and reconstruct 3-digit numbers.
