Today I am feeling very grateful for a very special person in my life. 12 years ago, destiny brought us together. I remember vividly when I stopped her on the road and asked if she is a Childminder? I ran into the corner shop to get a pen and paper so I can take her number and call her later.

2 week prior to this event, I was offered my first full time job. The job was an hour away from home and with 2 young children at the time and no family support nearby, I was desperate!!!!

12 years on, this special lady remains my strongest support pillar and still standing strong for me❤️.

Celine of Celine’s Ofsted Reg Montessori Childminder/PreSchool/Before & After School is a God sent angel for me. She helped raised my 3 children and mould them into such responsible people.

She stood strong for me and my family through thick and thin and never asked for anything in return. She supported me to get back out in the world and find me! knowing fully well that my children are looked after, when family support is not easily accessible for me.

There were times when she would open her doors for us at 6.30am or even earlier, when her normal working day starts at 7.30 and have the kids, a lot later than her normal working time.

Céline’s Little Ones Celebrate Mother’s Day & World Book Day with The Colour Monster

At Céline’s Inspired Montessori at Home, our little ones had a very important job… helping The Colour Monster sort out his feelings! Between giggles, storytelling and a little bit of colourful chaos, the children explored emotions through the much-loved story while celebrating World Book Day and getting ready for Mother’s Day.

The children listened carefully to the story and talked about the different colours representing feelings. We had some very serious discussions about when we feel happy, calm, excited… and sometimes a little bit grumpy too! (Apparently snack time solves most problems!) singing if your grumpy and you know it stamp your feet… proved hillarious. This supported Communication and Language as the children shared their ideas and experiences.

For Personal, Social and Emotional Development, the children spoke about the special people who make them feel loved — especially their mums — and created beautiful (and very secret!) Mother’s Day surprises. There was lots of pride in their work and plenty of “My mummy will love this!” moments.

Our Physical Development came into play as little hands got busy cutting, sticking, painting and colouring their emotion monsters and cards. Glue sticks may or may not have ended up everywhere… but that’s part of the creative process!

Through Literacy, the children explored the story of The Colour Monster, talked about characters, and enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day. We had a wonderful mix of coloured costumes, big imaginations and some very confident storytelling.

The children used counting, sorting and matching colours while organising the monster’s feelings, which supported their Mathematics learning. Who knew feelings could be sorted just like colourful treasures?

During Understanding the World, we talked about celebrations such as World Book Day and Mother’s Day, and why we show appreciation to the people who care for us.

Finally, the children expressed themselves beautifully through Expressive Arts and Design, creating colourful artwork inspired by the story. Our Montessori environment was filled with creativity, laughter and a few very proud artists.

All in all, Céline’s little ones helped the Colour Monster organise his feelings, celebrated their love for books, and prepared some very special surprises for their mums.

We think the Colour Monster would be very proud… even if he did leave a little glitter behind!

Our preschool children have been busy exploring celebrations of love, light and new beginnings through hands-on experiences.

For Chinese New Year, the children created their very own dragons using cutting, sticking, gluing and collage techniques. They carefully crafted beautiful fabric dragons, developing fine motor skills, concentration and creativity. We explored Chinese music and practised dragon dancing together, moving our bodies rhythmically and confidently.

We also watched a colourful New Year parade, noticing the lanterns, lights and traditional costumes. Through stories and discussion, the children learned about family traditions, symbols of luck and the meaning of the celebration.

Our sensory trays were filled with noodles, lanterns, and themed materials to encourage exploration through touch and imaginative play. These activities supported language development, cultural awareness and early mathematical concepts as we sorted, counted and compared.

Alongside this, we celebrated Valentine’s Day by creating hearts, sharing kindness activities and talking about friendship and caring for others. The children expressed their love through art, mark-making and thoughtful conversations about what makes someone special.

I am so proud of how engaged and curious my little learners have been as they explored these meaningful celebrations together, with our wonderful network of childminders… “Thankyou to you all for networking with us”

Arctic Explorers at Celine’s - Thankyou to our wonderful network of childminders, community groups both local and a little further, it’s great to be a part of such a great community around our children.

Over the past weeks, the children at Celine’s have been busy exploring Arctic animals and their habitats through a rich blend of play-based and Montessori-inspired learning. Using hands-on resources, the children discovered animals such as polar bears, penguins and Arctic foxes, learning how they survive in cold environments and how their habitats differ from our own.

Our daily stories and rhymes supported early language development, helping the children build new vocabulary, listen attentively and express their ideas with confidence. Sensory play using textures, ice, water, and small-world Arctic scenes encouraged curiosity, problem-solving and fine motor skills, while allowing children to explore at their own pace in line with Montessori principles of independence and choice.

Outdoor play extended learning further, supporting physical development and an understanding of the natural world. All the children worked together, taking turns and sharing ideas, strengthening their personal, social and emotional development.

Throughout the experience, children were supported to follow their interests, make independent choices and learn through meaningful experiences, reflecting the core values of the Montessori ethos. Whilst linking closely to the EYFS, particularly Communication and Language, Understanding the World, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

As December arrived at Celine’s, my childminding home began to sparkle with excitement, laughter and a wonderful sense of togetherness. The build-up to Christmas is a special time for all the children — one filled with friendships, joy and the simple magic of shared moments.

Each day comes alive with giggles, as children arrive eager to see their friends. “That’s my best friend, here’s…!” is often heard as they play, laugh and learn alongside one another. Christmas brings an extra layer of warmth, encouraging kindness, inclusion and a feeling of belonging that we treasure deeply.

Festive celebrations have filled our days with smiles, parties, small gatherings and much much more, together with our wonderful network of childminders within our community and further afield within our community. The children have loved dressing up in cosy jumpers, sparkly outfits and festive accessories, proudly showing them off as they dance, sing and celebrate together. Our nativity role play has been a highlight — Mary, Joseph, angels, shepherds and a very enthusiastic donkey bringing traditional Christmas stories to life through imagination, teamwork and laughter.

Alongside the excitement, we’ve enjoyed calm, cosy moments too. Sitting together with friends to enjoy warm hot chocolate topped with marshmallows, sharing festive and party foods, chatting and laughing — these simple experiences help children feel safe, valued and connected.

Creativity has flourished throughout the festive season. Little hands have been busy painting, gluing and sprinkling glitter as the children made cards, decorations and gifts for loved ones. “I’m making this for my mummy, this is for daddy,” was often heard, reminding us how meaningful these moments are. Christmas stories have been shared daily, encouraging listening, language and imagination while creating peaceful, comforting moments together.

The build-up to Christmas in my setting is about friendships growing, confidence building, kindness being shared and happy memories being made. As the term comes to a close, we reflect on a season filled with warmth, joy and connection.
