Ashworth View Nursery

To celebrate International Cat Day, the children at Little Lambs worked together to create their very own cat using a variety of different materials. They explored textures, colours, and shapes, showing creativity and imagination while enjoying a fun, hands-on, messy activity. The children copied single words and animal sounds modelled by staff, helping to develop their communication and language skills throughout the experience. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and excitement as everyone embraced getting sticky and creative together!

Today Wise Owls have been doing some important excavation work! They have using the spray bottles and pipets with warm water to free the animals from the ice! We spoke about the natural habitats of the animals that were trapped, and how they would feel being trapped in the ice 🧊 we used our problem solving skills to work together and help each other, deciding which animals needed freeing first and discussing which tools would be most effective :)

This morning little lambs have been exploring a Japanese cherry blossom tuff tray in celebration of Hiroshima peace day. They enjoyed looking at the colours of the flowers 🌺 in the water and swirling them around, splashing their friends and enjoying making them laugh.

Wise Owls have been learning all about themselves, exploring both their similarities and differences. The children used mirrors to observe their own reflections and described their facial features before drawing the missing half of their faces.

Today in Wise Owls we’re exploring a coral reef 🪸 sensory tray! The children are making marks in the ocean floor, talking about the range of animals that can be found like a sea snake! And they’re finding what treasure might lay in the ocean floor! This meets one of new cohorts : Literary Writing - includes mark making in early writing in play

Today, we celebrated our Graduation 2026 at Ashworth View and what a truly wonderful day it was! Filled with lots of laughter, it was the perfect way to celebrate our incredible preschool children as they reached the end of their nursery journey.

A massive thank you to our amazing preschool team for all the hard work and dedication that goes into making this milestone so special.

Congratulations to all of our graduates, we couldn't be prouder of each and every one of you.

The Wise Owls children showed great interest in using warm soapy water to wash the wooden bus in the garden. We extended this learning experience by providing the opportunity to wash Jess and Jamie's cars. Before going outside, the children discussed road safety and explored ways to keep themselves safe while walking through the car park. 🚗🚙🧽🪣

Wise Owls have enjoyed learning all about the life cycle of fruits and plants this morning. The children listened to a story about the life cycle of a plant which led us on to observing the textures of different fruits. The children used a variety of new vocabulary to describe what each fruit feels like and where they think the fruits grow. The children closely observed the inside of the fruits and discussed what fruits have seeds. The children recalled events of planting their own strawberry seeds in the garden.

We then used the raspberries, strawberries and berries to mix and squash to make our own paint. The children then enjoyed making their own marks with the different sized brushes, exploring different strokes and patterns which they can create.

This morning, the children enjoyed a variety of engaging sensory experiences that supported their learning. They explored beach sensory bags using their fine motor skills to squeeze, press, and manipulate the bags to discover the hidden treasures inside.

The children have enjoyed playing in the sun this morning, the children have been using the pirate ship holes to look for sheep in the fields, building their own structures in the sand and working together to build in the construction area.
