Our Year 5 & 6 girls had a fantastic time last week representing St James' with Rochdale Borough School Games Partnership at the Netball Skills Festival AND their first football event! What an incredible performance in each event! 🌟

🏀 Netball - The girls took part in a range of brilliant drills to sharpen their skills, improve their court movement, and build up their confidence all while having absolute fun!

⚽ Football - For their first time playing together as a team, their teamwork, communication, and support for one another was outstanding. To top it off, we saw some amazing goals scored!

👏 Super proud of their teamwork and sportsmanship. Well done, girls! You all represented St James' beautifully.

D6 is on as usual this Saturday!

Is your in Year 5 or 6? Bring them along to our peer coaching session this weekend! It’s brilliant for building confidence, as pupils get to take the lead and choose what they want to work on - whether that’s tackling tricky maths, polishing up on spellings or practising a new skill.

They’ll get support working alongside their classmates and our fantastic Year 9 student coaches - plus, breakfast is included to keep them fuelled and ready to go! 🥐🥞

A massive thank you to all of our amazing parents, carers, children, and staff for making parents' evening such a warm, positive, and successful event. It was wonderful to catch up, share progress, and celebrate everything our pupils have achieved so far.

A special thank you goes to our school nurse and the team from home-start for taking the time to attend and offer invaluable expert advice and support to our school community 💙

We’d also like to give a big shout-out to everyone who took a moment to fill out our proud clouds ☁️💖 Reading all the wonderful messages about what makes you so proud of your little ones brought huge smiles to our faces. They are a constant reminder of how special our children are!

How do you think £20 million should be spent in Smallbridge, Hurstead & Belfield?

Hurstead and Smallbridge have been selected to receive up to £20 million over 10 years (between 2025-2035) so they can decide how to regenerate their local area. This is part of the government’s Pride in Place programme.

The programme is government funded and aimed at putting power into the hands of local people in neighbourhoods across the UK.

🔢 Maths: Getting hands-on with base 10 blocks to master our place value skills.
🥗 D&T: Exploring where our food comes from and learning all about sustainability.
💻 Computing: Getting creative and designing our very own digital devices.

Our pupils have been creating mythical creatures that watch over and protect our natural environment! 🧙‍♂️🍃
Using their fantastic imaginations, the children created their very own boggarts using clay and natural resources gathered directly from the forest floor. From leafy hair and twig antlers to pebble eyes, every single design was uniquely creative! 🪵🌿
It was wonderful to see everyone connecting with nature, sharing tools, and bringing their woodland guardians to life.

Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic afternoon today at the Rochdale crucial crew child safety event at Milnrow Cricket Club! 🚑🚒👮‍♂️

They took part in interactive, hands-on scenarios led by local agencies and the Emergency Services, learning vital life skills to help keep themselves and others safe as they grow more independent and prepare for secondary school.

Most importantly, our pupils represented our school exceptionally well! They were polite, respectful, and wonderfully well-mannered throughout the entire event. We could not be prouder of how maturely they engaged with all the fantastic workshops and instructors.

Well done, Year 6—you are a fantastic credit to our school community! 👏✨

On Friday, a group of Year 6 pupils represented St James' at the Watergrove Trust Wellbeing Summit.

Throughout the day, the children engaged in various activities centered around the '5 Ways to Wellbeing.' It was a fantastic experience where they not only enjoyed the interactive sessions but also built wonderful new friendships with pupils from across the Trust.

A big thank you to St Andrew's C.E. Primary School and Nursery for being wonderful hosts and providing a yummy lunch!
