DC4 have travelled back in time!

They explored what life was like before the Industrial Revolution and discovered how long it could take to make everyday items by hand. Some learners made hats, some created purses and others had a go at threading.

A hands on challenge that helped us understand just how much time, patience and skill went into making clothes before machines and factories! 🧵

A Fantastic Achievement for R1.4! 🎉☕

On Friday, Class R1.4 proudly took part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning at the Phoenix Centre, bringing people together for a wonderful cause.

Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of everyone who attended, donated, baked, and helped out, the class raised an amazing £228.07 for Macmillan Cancer Support. 💚

The learners thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the event, developing their confidence and social skills while supporting a charity that makes a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.

Well done, R1.4! 🌟

The Experiential Department had a fantastic training session with Dr Joanna Grace from The Sensory Projects. They explored how the senses can be used to create engaging, meaningful sensory stories that capture learners' interests and support learning. They left with lots of practical ideas and can't wait to start putting them into practice to enhance our learners' experiences.

🌳 Inspiring future careers through real-life experiences!

As part of their vocational education offer, learners from R2.2 have been exploring outdoor and physical job roles. One career they investigated was that of a park groundskeeper, learning about the tasks involved, the skills required, and the clothing and equipment used on the job.

The group then enjoyed a visit to Queens Park, where they interviewed former learner Dominik about his role and experiences in employment.

This valuable hands-on experience gave learners a greater understanding of outdoor careers and helped raise aspirations for progressing into paid work in the future. We are proud of their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the project. 👏

Tilly's Tea Room is officially open! 🎉☕

We're incredibly proud to celebrate the opening of Tilly's Tea Room, where learners from the Redwood Real Work Programme are gaining valuable hands-on experience in a real hospitality environment.

From preparing and cooking delicious food to serving drinks with a smile, our learners are developing important skills in teamwork, communication, customer service and independence every day.

A huge well done to everyone involved in bringing this fantastic community space to life. We can't wait to see Tilly's Tea Room continue to grow and become a welcoming place for local residents to enjoy a cuppa, a bite to eat, and support our amazing learners.
