𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 – 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀!

On Wednesday 7th October, we were delighted to welcome award-winning author and Children’s Laureate Patrice Lawrence to RCC for the very first time!

The visit was even more special as we celebrated the recent opening of our brand-new school library, an exciting space to inspire a love of reading and creativity!

Patrice delivered three inspiring sessions to students across Years 7, 8 and 9, sharing her personal journey, experiences growing up and passion for storytelling.

Our students showed fantastic ambition and curiosity, asking thoughtful questions about writing, publishing and Patrice’s life experiences. Their enthusiasm and respect throughout the sessions made a wonderful impression on our special guest.

Patrice encouraged students to find joy in writing, embrace their creativity and recognise the importance of expressing their own voices.

We are incredibly proud of the way our students engaged with this fantastic opportunity, which has inspired a renewed enthusiasm for reading, writing and storytelling across the college.

𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 – 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟳 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗨𝗽 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁!

On Friday 2nd October, our Year 7 students enjoyed a fantastic Wise Up team-building event, packed with exciting challenges designed to develop communication, leadership, resilience and problem-solving skills.

Students showed great ambition as they tackled a range of activities, including guiding golf balls along a 15-metre course in complete silence, crossing obstacles using wooden blocks and beams, giant volleyball, tower building and slingshot challenges!

Throughout the day, students demonstrated respect by supporting one another, listening to their teammates and working together to overcome challenges. They also learned the importance of perseverance, trying again when things didn't go to plan and learning from their mistakes.

There was plenty of pride as teams celebrated their achievements, earned points and recognised individuals who showed outstanding teamwork and determination.

A brilliant day of friendship, fun and teamwork. Well, done to all our Year 7 students!

𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 – 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆

Robertsbridge Recreation Ground was the venue for a fantastic afternoon of Cluster Cross Country, with 240 pupils from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 taking part.

We were delighted to welcome pupils from Bodiam, Brede, Etchingham, Northiam, Hurst Green, Salehurst and Staplecross, with 60 pupils competing in each race.

The event was organised and supported by our new Year 10 Sports Leaders Team, who did a fantastic job throughout the afternoon.

They showed Pride in representing Robertsbridge Community College and taking responsibility for such a large event, Ambition in stepping into their new leadership roles and making the event a success, and Respect through the encouragement and support they gave to every pupil taking part.

A huge well done to all of the runners and to our Year 10 Sports Leaders for helping to make the afternoon such a success.

𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗔 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲'𝘀 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗼𝗻.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 £𝟲𝟲𝟬 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲. Thank you to everyone who has already donated following our initial post; it has been lovely to read so many of your memories of someone who was very much one of a kind. Thank you for sharing them.

Many of you will remember Ms Louise Thompson – Subject Leader/Teacher of History and Head of KS3 during her 27 extraordinary years here at RCC. From battlefield visits to Ypres, to trips to the Tower of London, and her wonderful annual history celebrations - she inspired learning in so many memorable and creative ways.

We were deeply saddened by her recent passing, aged just 59. We estimate she touched the lives of at least 3,500 students over her career - through her passion for her subject, her genuine care for young people, and her legendary sense of humour!

We want to honour her memory with a permanent memorial within the school grounds, an enduring reminder of her dedication to this school and its students, and a real demonstration of the respect that we hold as one of our school values.

If Ms Thompson's teaching, warmth, or humour ever touched your life, this is your last chance to help make this happen. Every contribution, large or small, makes a difference.

𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 – 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿…

We really enjoyed our Open Evening yesterday - and the opportunity it gave us to show off what we do here, and what makes Robertsbridge so special. It's always wonderful to see so much enthusiasm for our school - in the conversations that took place around the school, the activities on display, the personal chats between staff, parents and students, and in the lovely emails that we found in our inbox this morning.

One parent wrote to us this morning and summed it up perfectly:

❝ We decided we ought to see our most local school… and wow am I pleased that we did. We thought we would pop in for half an hour but stayed for the full two hours… I was bowled over. ❞

Evenings like last night remind us just how special our school community is, and we're so grateful to everyone who came along to be part of it – and to all of our wonderful student ambassadors that took part and shared their own experiences of Robertsbridge – giving insight to help families make that all-important decision.

🚗 Travelling by car? You may have seen that the A21 has been closing for roadworks in the evenings - but we've arranged with the Highways Team for access to remain open until 8.30pm tomorrow night, giving everyone plenty of time to leave site via their normal route before any works begin.

No need to find an alternative - just come along and enjoy the evening! And if you know someone who may have been anxious about the roadworks, please share this post to let them know.

𝗔 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯

What a fantastic turnout for our first Netball Club of the year, with more than 50 students from Years 7 to 10 taking part.

It was brilliant to see so many students getting involved and bringing such enthusiasm, energy and team spirit to the court. Throughout the session, students showed real ambition as they developed their skills and fantastic respect for one another while playing and working together.

We are incredibly proud to see so many students making the most of opportunities beyond the classroom, enjoying the sport and supporting each other.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made our first session such a success. We are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back next week.

This week, we were delighted to welcome the fantastic team from Create Music, our local Music Hub, to Robertsbridge Community College for a special session with our Year 7 students.

Our students had the opportunity to explore a range of instruments, discover new sounds and find out more about the opportunities available to them through learning music.

It was brilliant to see so many students getting involved, asking questions and showing a real willingness to try something new. They represented the College with pride, showed ambition in exploring new skills and possibilities, and demonstrated respect through the way they listened to and engaged with the visiting musicians and one another.

We are proud to be able to offer experiences like this from the very start of Year 7, helping our students discover new interests, build confidence and develop their talents.
