Ripon Gymnastics Academy We're Gymnastics club running classes in Ripon, Knaresborough and Boroughbridge. Classes available f We hold recreational classes and various squad pathways.

We are a dynamic, friendly club with classes available for boys and girls ages 4-18 years. Everyone in our classes have an opportunity to move up as long as they meet the skills, aims and criteria for each group. We work on the squad requirements with all lessons. We are a fair club and want everyone to reach their potential. At this present time our classes are held at King James' School Knaresborough, Boroughbridge High School and Ripon Grammar School

Gymnastics classes are now closed for the summer and we will be returning in September.

Please note, our admin team will be on holiday from 22nd July-28th July, so we will respond to any queries on our return.

Well done to our gymnasts who competed at the Astral Gymnastics Floor & Vault competition yesterday. πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

For these girls it was their first ever competition for all of them, and they all did so well to get up and compete and show off their hard work! We hope everyone enjoyed themselves πŸ₯°

*Hot Weather this week*

Our classes will be running as normal this week! However due to the hotter weather please ensure to do the following to keep cool:

πŸ«— Bring a water bottle! We have access to cold water fountains in the school and gymnasts will be given more regular water breaks. Please also ensure your child has had plenty to drink during the day.

πŸ‘• Wear cool, light clothing! For our squads this is a leotard with/without shorts, for lessons either a leotard or shorts and a t-shirt.

πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ The theme this week is backwards, bridges & walkovers so will be more flexibility focused anyway which is better for warmer weather. However skills may be adapted if children are getting overheated.

πŸ’¨ Fans & increased circulation will be in place to try and keep the gymnasiums a bit cooler.

⏰ More regular breaks and rests will be included to help ensure children aren't getting too hot.

WEEK 4

*Assessment Week*

We will be doing assessments with all gymnasts in the club* this week (week commencing 4th May).

Assessments are so we can ensure children are in the best class level based on the skills they can do. It also helps coaches identify any skills we may need to practice more in our classes.

Please note: assessments are different to badges, they do not receive a badge or certificate for assessments.

*The following squads will be doing assessments the last week of term due to an upcoming competition: Development, Development Prep, Academy 3, Academy 2 & C Squad.

A small number of children usually move up from each group to a harder class each assessment period, although this depends on the class and level.

If your child is to move up classes following assessments, you will receive an email 1-2 weeks after assessment week, and the change will take place after the May half term.

If you would like to know what your child needs to work on for assessments please email us, we will get back to you as soon as we can :)
