Well what a week we had competing at the Great Yorkshire show in the glorious sunshine. This year we took 8 young pigs with us and most of them behaved! We did manage to show all three of the breeds we keep and had some great conversations with people about how to support the conservation of our rare breeds 🐷💕🌟

A few people asked what the pigs are called so here’s the class of 2026!

All named by the children and no Tom probably still doesn’t know who’s who even by the end of the week at the GYS!

8 pigs, 4 children some goats and a lot of washing! GYS 2026 you’ve been amazing. We’ve all come away with amazing memories and met friends old and new. Every show we go to we seem to learn a bit more or meet someone new and it makes all the unseen hard work that happens at home just a bit more worth it.

The team headed out to their first proper show this week as we headed down to Staffordshire county show. Great to see old friends and meet some new faces. William and Pippa did a great job helping to get the pigs ready and showed them nicely on the first day and we came home with a few nice rosettes. Feral Beryl AKA Oreo seemed to have a last minute personality transplant to convincingly look like she knew what she was doing so gold star to Oreo! The young boars Solomon and Humbug both behaved beautifully so can’t ask more than that 🐷🌟

Definitely all came away with a few things to work on but that’s what I like about showing, it’s not just trying to win a prize for an animal you’ve picked out, it’s the feedback you get that makes you think about what you’re doing back at home and the friendships you make along the way. Well what an amazing weekend we’ve had at Farm Fest down in stoneleigh with the Junior Pig club. All the kids did an amazing job of showing people what pig club is all about and the music was brilliant on an evening. Lots more memories made and we met some familiar faces along the way too!

I put the Billy’s in to aim to kid for half term while the children were off. 4 goats have kidded in the last 24 hours! 10 kids born, 8 survivors and 6 of those are girls. Just two more left to kid 🥰🙉🐐
