A Mural with a Story!

Take a look at this fantastic mural in Ripley town centre, painted by a local artist who worked with our Arts Award Bronze children last year.

The mural is inspired by the story of the infamous Ripley Zoo, connecting our school to a fascinating part of the local area’s history.

It’s wonderful to see our children working alongside a local artist, developing their creativity and learning how art can help us tell stories and celebrate the history of our community.

We think the finished mural is a fantastic addition to Ripley!

When dropping children off to school, please ensure that pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are dropped off promptly at school using the main school gates by an adult at 8:45am.

Children in Years 3, 4, and 5 should not be left to wait on the Dannah Crescent driveway on their own, as this is not supervised by school staff, and should therefore be walked by a responsible adult to the blue gates at 8:45am.

Children in Year 6, who walk to school on their own, or those dropped off by an adult, should arrive to school promptly at 8:45am and enter school using the Dannah Crescent entrance.

Children who arrive to school late will require a responsible adult to accompany them to the School Office, using the main school gate.

All pupils will be expected to be collected at 3:15pm, from their appropriate collection locations, in line with the official end of the school day. This change is being implemented to ensure consistency, safeguard all children, and support the smooth running of the school day.

Children in Reception and Y1/2 Whales should be collected from their external classroom doors, those in Y1 Dolphins are to be collected from the Main School door and all other pupils are collected from the Playground.

The one-way system remains in place to ensure safety of all pupils when leaving the school site. Please therefore enter the playground promptly at 3:15pm via the Dannah Crescent school entrance and follow the one-way system to leave school through the Dannah Street Main School Gates as you leave school.

Please note that all previous or historic agreements for early collection will no longer be in place. Going forward, early collection will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances, and only where it is clearly in the best interest of the child at RipleySt.John’s.

Where Are They Now? Meet Aaron!

We’re continuing our “Where Are They Now?” series, celebrating former Ripley St John’s pupils and finding out what they’ve gone on to do since leaving school.

This time, we’re catching up with Aaron Leivers, who now works selling HGV trucks for MAN.

It’s fantastic to see the wide range of careers our former pupils have gone into, and we hope sharing their stories will help our current pupils see just how many different opportunities are out there!

Are you a former pupil of Ripley St John’s?

We’d love to hear from you! Whether you’ve followed a career you always dreamed of, started your own business, or ended up doing something completely unexpected, get in touch.

Simply comment on this post or send us a message and tell us what you’re doing now. We’d love to share your story and photographs around school to help motivate and inspire our children.

A big thank you to Aaron for getting involved!
