Pre-School & Nursery: Teddie L
Congratulations, Teddie! The pre-school & nursery team have been thoroughly impressed with Teddie, who has shown great resilience and adaptability to changes in his environment. He has been showing kindness and excellent listening skills, particularly at lunchtime. He now waits patiently for his turn to go to the front and leads the line using walking feet, ensuring he is a positive role model to his peers. Well done, Teddie!

Reception & Year 1: Nancy
A super well done to the brilliant Nancy! Mrs. Cheal and Mrs. Jones have noticed that Nancy has been working so hard on her number work and constantly tries to challenge herself. Upon completing her work she asks to play the numeracy games on the IWB and even asks to try the harder level each time, always seeking further challenge. Well done Nancy - your number work goes from strength to strength.

Year 2: Charlotte
A big congratulations to Charlotte, who has been excellent this week! Mrs. Cooper has chosen Charlotte for her excellent sentence writing in phonics. She learns the letter patterns well and is able to apply the spelling rules in her independent writing. Well done, Charlotte!

Year 3: Hana
An enormous congratulations to Hana! Well done! Mr. Legg has selected Hana for her excellent effort and perseverance in maths. Hana has shone this week when using her times tables to double and halve numbers. She carefully followed all the key steps and it was great to see her sharing her answer during the class input. Well done, Hana!

Year 4: Olivia
Congratulations to the amazing Olivia! A very big well done for being year 4's Star of the Week. Olivia was an excellent museum curator, looking carefully at artefacts and creating a detailed description. Mrs. Richards was very impressed with the skills that Olivia displayed and with the way she was articulate in her description. Well done!

Year 5: Willa
A super well done to the wonderful Willa! Mrs. Potter has chosen Willa as she has maintained high standards in her work and has produced a brilliant newspaper front page about the Titanic using all of the relevant features. Well done, Willa!

Year 6: Camille
Congratulations to the remarkable Camille! Mr. Babur has been very impressed with the way Camille has coped with her shoulder injury, and this is not stopping her from completing all of her work. Camille has switched to writing with her left hand in all subjects, including art, and she is working just as hard as ever. Mr. Babur loved the booklet that she created in English, her maths work is continuing to be very impressive, and she has been mature and sensible in all discussions in science and PSHE lessons. Well done, Camille!

🏰 Year 7 Visit to Corfe & Portland Castles ⚔️

Year 7 enjoyed a fantastic history trip this week, visiting two very different types of fortification as part of their project exploring how castles developed over time.

The students discovered how technological advances and political change dramatically influenced castle design and purpose. Their day began at the magnificent medieval ruins of Corfe Castle, where they explored its towering walls and commanding position.

They then travelled to Portland Castle, one of Henry VIII’s coastal forts, where they saw first-hand how defence strategies evolved, with squat battlements and powerful cannons designed to protect England’s coastline.

A fascinating day of hands-on learning, bringing history to life beyond the classroom!

Year 9 and 10 recently visited Salisbury Cathedral as part of their Philosophy, Ethics and Religion learning. They had a tour of the cathedral, learning about the Bumping Stone, Quire, font, altar, and more.

They also climbed the 123-metre-tall spire, and once traversing all 332 steps, they were welcomed by panoramic views on Salisbury and the surrounding countryside.

Some light-hearted competition also took place, where they competed against each other to make the sturdiest spire out of paper straws and other materials.

It was a brilliant visit, with our wonderful pupils making the most of every learning
opportunity and leaving a positive impression with the volunteers and staff at the Cathedral.

✈️ Visit to RAF Ibsley

Coinciding with the D-Day commemorations, Mrs Butterfield and Mr Barbur took a group of Junior School pupils to explore the historic sites of the former World War Two airbase, RAF Ibsley.

The children enjoyed learning about the important role the airfield played during the war and reflecting on how different the area would have looked over 80 years ago.

It was a fascinating opportunity to bring history to life and to remember the courage and sacrifice of those who served during World War Two.

Year 5 & 6: Team Building

Year 5 and Year 6 joined forces this week for a session of team-building activities that left everyone smiling!

We started with the intriguing "20 Game," and, while mastery might be a little way off, the laughter shared along the way was priceless. Ask your child all about it, play it in the car...

Next up were some drawing games.

The first challenge was to draw what they felt someone else sketching on their back.

It was a great exercise in trust and communication. Then they took turns drawing
objects without peeking! Some of the pictures were really interesting, and they
prompted lots of giggles among the students.

While these activities were loads of fun, they also served a greater purpose: teaching our children the vital skills of collaboration and listening.

These are crucial life skills that we are proud to cultivate in such an enjoyable way.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates on our journey of learning and growth!

Year 5: Read all about it!

Our Year 5 students have been travelling back in time and were absolutely astonished when they discovered a world where people received their daily dose of news from large broadsheet newspapers. Imagine sitting on a train or at the breakfast table trying to master the art of reading without invading someone else’s space!

The students had the opportunity to look back at some very old newspapers, including those published during the war and after. It was a wonderful experience for them, not only to witness the sheer number of words printed on one page but also to explore the fascinating features and formats of these historical publications.

They had a great time learning about the style of writing, the format of columns, and even had a hearty chuckle at some of the classic adverts that adorned the pages. These explorations were filled with laughter and surprise, making it a fun and enlightening lesson for everyone!

This insightful activity paved the way for our budding journalists. They are now eagerly preparing to write their own newspaper articles about the Titanic. We cannot wait to see the creative and informative pieces they come up with!

Year 4: Experiment with Coins

Jaxon did a brilliant science experiment with his grandad and wanted to share it with the class.

He was investigating which liquid was best at cleaning copper coins.

He made a PowerPoint presentation and got the class to put the coins in ketchup, BBQ sauce, coke, hot sauce, vinegar, water and mayo.

They created labels, designed a chart, made predictions and left them overnight. BBQ sauce was the best (along with a mixture of them all).

The coins came out super shiny.

Year 3: It's all about the money!

Our Year 3 explorers have been combining their love for nature with the world of economics. We delved into a unique project inspired by the Bank of England's latest initiative to print new banknotes.

The children were thrilled to learn about the images shortlisted for the new notes, featuring a delightful array of animals native to England. 🦊🦔

This sparked incredible creativity as our young minds eagerly set about designing their own imaginative banknotes. They sketched, coloured, and crafted with great enthusiasm, drawing inspiration from the natural wonders around us. From majestic red deer to playful squirrels, their designs were truly spectacular! 🌳✨

To add an extra layer of excitement, we decided to send the children’s innovative
creations to the Bank of England. Who knows? Perhaps they will take inspiration from our students' artwork for their future bank notes!

Our Year 3 learners not only explored the wonders of wildlife but also discovered the wonderful world of banknote design. The project was a fantastic journey into creativity, nature, and the realm of money.

Pre-School Adventures

As we are in our final term together at Moyles Court School, we are excited to make it a fun-filled and memorable half term.

We welcomed 5 tiny caterpillars 🐛 to our pre-school!

The children were excited to observe them in their special habitat and talked about what caterpillars need to grow and stay healthy.

We discussed the butterfly life cycle and learned that the caterpillars will soon form a chrysalis 🏠 before transforming into beautiful butterflies 🦋

The children are looking forward to watching the changes happen and helping to release the butterflies when they are ready to fly away.

We have also had lots of fun exploring the woodlands and continuing our topic called; At The Seaside too.
