📮 Have you spotted our new post box?

At the start of each toddler class, the children can ‘register’ their attendance by finding their name card and posting it into the box. It’s a simple activity but it supports some really important early learning skills!

🧡 Why is it important for your child to recognise their written name?

A child’s name is often the very first word they learn to recognise in print and that’s a big step towards literacy.

When children start recognising their name, they’re learning that letters and words have meaning. It helps them become familiar with the alphabet, builds confidence, and supports early reading & writing skills.

Name recognition also encourages independence. Whether it’s finding their coat peg, artwork or personal belongings, recognising their name helps children feel capable and included.

The best part? Because their name is so personal and meaningful, learning it can be fun and motivating!

At TinyTalk, we love incorporating early literacy skills into our classes through songs, signs, games and play, helping little ones learn in a way that feels natural, engaging and enjoyable.

After all the excitement of the holidays, we’ll be learning signs to help with bedtime in our baby signing classes this week. In toddler classes, we’ll be chatting about what we might see on a trip to the pet shop and enjoying some parachute fun! 🐶🐰🎈
