Happy Earth Day! 🌍

The children have been enjoying painting their own earths and decorating them in stickers which explain ways in which we can look after the world. πŸ’‘
They have also been looking after our sea creatures by 'cleaning the ocean', removing all of the plastic and putting it into the recycling bin. β™»οΈπŸ«
We have also been enjoying stories and conversations about deforestation and palm oil, and other ways to protect our Earth! 🌳

With our artist this week, the children have been creating spring tissue art for the windows. The children cut the pieces into sizes to fit on the shapes. We have also been looking at a wren and a pigeons nest, and we are also making our own hurds nest as well.

To celebrate the beginning of Science week, the children did a volcano experiment! πŸŒ‹πŸ§ͺ

The children built their own volcano using sand before filling it with bicarbonate of soda and adding vinegar with food colouring. They loved watching the chemical reaction occur, watching the volcano explode! They then enjoyed using dinosaurs and roleplaying volcanic eruptions and meteor showers. πŸ¦•

World book day! πŸ“–πŸ–οΈ

The children have enjoyed celebrating world book day today! We have had some lovely activities to celebrate the day, such as creating our own Colour Monsters, playing with the Snail and the Whale in our water tray, and roleplaying A Squash and a Squeeze. The children also wore a variety of amazing costumes and brought in their favourite books which they got to share with friends!

We had a special guest come and perform a story to us. Our guest used to come to nursery with us and is now working towards getting her junior Duke gold award! She remembered the whole book from start to finish which is very impressive. You all joined in really well and sat beautifully as you listened. You all said who your favourite character was, the mouse seemed to be a winner.

We have really been enjoying talking about the winter Olympics! We decided to make our own ski jump and got creative with some junk modelling and made our own skis to try.
