We provide a range of services all carried out to a very high standard. We have it all at Barstobrick. Located in the beautiful Dumfries and Galloway countryside, we can offer 30mins to 90 minutes off road treks around our 650acre estate. The Scottish weather isn't a problem either with use of our fantastic indoor schools for wet days and outdoor school for a l

esson in the sun. Fully licensed and insured
We cater for ages 5yrs plus and have a weight restriction of 15stone . We also offer the following:-
Private and group lessons
Stable Management lectures
Saturday club for ages 5yr-17yrs
Lunging and longreining lesson
Lunge lessons (11st max) to work on balance and position,
Own horse welcome specialising in youngsters and dressage from Intro to Advanced Medium. Prices:-
£30 for 30mins lesson or lecture (private)
£35 for 45mins lesson or lecture (private)
£20 for 30mins lesson or lecture (group)
£30 for 45mins lesson or lecture (group)
Group lessons are maximum of 4 people

Hi Everyone,
I’m back home 🎉 operation went well, so now on the long road to recovery.
No riding or lifting for 12 weeks 😫 but the main thing is I’m cancer free 💪.
Unfortunately the meds are making me sick so I’ve come off them but I’m sure with a good diet and arnica I will see you all soon.

Thank you for all the messages, and especially James, my sister, Cameron, Aimee and Alice that have been taking care of the yard 🫶

Hi Everyone
The riding school will be closed from Sunday 9th August for a minimum of 2 weeks.
After that if any of my regulars would like a trek I will try and organise it for you.
Anyone wanting lessons on their own horses shouldn’t be a problem as it’s the lifting part of preparing the school ponies that I will have to avoid for a while.
No work messages will be answered next week but please get in touch after that regarding own horses lessons and treks on the school ponies.

A massive congratulations to Zurie and her 7yr old horse Obie at the Scottish youth Eventing championships coming 2nd overall and highest placed pony club member in the 2*. 🎉🎉🎉
I’ve been lucky enough to part of their journey and success since Obie was purchased as a green 4yr old and Zuries from the beginning. watching Zurie practice in her tailcoat for the first time before she set off and then seeing the pictures from the competition is why I love my job and helping people achieve their dreams.

Next year this combination will be campaigning for European selection so give Zuries page a like to follow their journey.
They have a very exciting future 🤗

Still no update on a date for my operation yet so life goes on as normal, this week is final preparations before heading to Aintree on Friday for the summer regional championships with Louie. This has kept me focused on training as soon Louie will have to have some downtime whilst I recover.
Here he is having one of his regular Hofmag sessions this morning, he absolutely loves it and really helps him chill and feel his best 👌

Isla and Vinnie are a fairy new partnership and have been getting great results showing and Pony club eventing with the ultimate goal of qualifying for HOYS, both at based and taught at Barstobrick.
Lots of exciting times ahead with this pair and love being part of their journey and success 💙

📣Temporary closing📣

Hi Everyone,
This is not a business decision I would ever make during peak season but soon everything will have to come to a standstill for a while.
I’m going to be honest then it stops speculation!
Last month I was diagnosed with cancer and will need a major operation that will put me out of action for a while.
I feel absolutely fine and will carry on teaching for now as normal.
I’ve had my pre opp assessment in Edinburgh and everything is signed ready to go so I’m just waiting on the date which could be anytime from now.
I will contact my regular clients when I know more, but at this time I won’t be taking on any new clients intill I’m fully healed and back to work properly.
Limited treks will be taken out once I’m out of hospital and can arrange for them to take place.
Thank you to everyone that has supported me though this rough time but hopefully this will be all over soon and get back to enjoying life again 😊
