How do we provide individualised tuition in a group setting? 👩🏫
Well the answer to this is not a simple one. But here’s one way we did it in last Tuesday’s lesson…
This student came in with a plan completed for homework. For this lesson, I asked him not to write it up and instead we would do it in class time.
During the lesson, we discussed his plan and then I asked him to write. After each paragraph, we paused, corrected and up-levelled.
This included:
- adding adjectives,
- changing sentence structure and learning how to use embedded clauses
- up-levelling by using “show not tell” techniques
Whilst the student wrote, I was able to help other students do the same in different ways.
This way students get to work in a fun environment around other children but also get the opportunity to tackle their own individual goals!
