Today we say a very sad goodbye to our dear colleague and friend, Tina Barnes.
Tina was a much-loved member of the Berry Lane Nursery family for over 25 years. Throughout all those years, she brought kindness, warmth and dedication to everything she did, touching the lives of so many children and colleagues along the way.
Her presence will be deeply missed, and the memories shared over more than two decades will always be treasured.

Rest peacefully, Tina. Thank you for everything. ❤️

This week the children have been spending time talking about graduating from nursery and moving to their new settings, primarily Reception classes. They have used words such as 'excited' and 'scared'. We have done our utmost to alleviate their fears and anxieties.
We finished the week with a Graduation Ceremony, attended by their loved ones. We loved being able to highlight the progress the children have made; how they have grown both in height and confidence!!
We wish the children all the luck in the world as they navigate the path through their further education.
We would also like to take this opportunity of thanking all our parents for their continued support and for all the lovely gifts we have received this week.

Whilst England are still in the World Cup, we decided we would introduce 'Sports' events this week.
The children made their own England flags and as they were painting their red crosses they were told it was The George Cross.
They used red and white playdough to make flags too and took part in a variety of games e.g. football, finger football and balancing ball races

Just received this from one of our parents:
"We wanted to message you today because we are both so proud of ****** and the progress he is making. We received photos from ***** today showing him building figures with the duplo blocks - his imagination has come on out of nowhere and it’s so lovely to see. We know how all of your staff are brilliant and we really wanted to just thank you all again. ***** has built an amazing bond with ****** and all of her extra time with him has helped him blossom 💙💙 we are very grateful to have him (and little diva pants!) at berry lane. The nursery is fantastic 👍 xx"
So lovely to receive and share ❤️

The children started the week by exploring items that sink or float. They followed this by making 'seaside' themed suncatchers using different materials, talking about how the different textures feel and what happens to the sand when water is added etc.
They also learnt to work co-operatively as they took part in group water play activities. Lots of communication was heard and new 'water' descriptive words were modelled to them from practitioners.

A short and very hot week for all our little ones (and staff) this week but they have enjoyed activities that were identified as the things their daddy likes to do e.g fishing, gardening, shaving etc.
Tglhey also combined their daddy's love of football into making England Flag biscuits.
Again, on behalf of my whole team, I would like to thank each and every parent for their co-operation during what turn out to be a very challenging week for all and well done to the kids for making it through!

Throughout the week, the children enjoyed taking part in lots of exciting activities inspired by things that dads and other special people might enjoy. They practised their fine motor skills with fishing games. The children became builders, using blocks and construction materials to design and create their own structures. They also enjoyed painting and decorating pictures, showing their creativity and imagination. Other activities included role play, problem-solving challenges, and outdoor games that encouraged teamwork and communication.
To celebrate Father's Day, the children spent time thinking about the special people in their lives and discussing why they are important to them. They carefully designed and decorated Father's Day cards, using a variety of materials to create unique keepsakes. The children also made special medals to present to their dads or someone special, proudly recognising all the love, care, and support they receive. It was wonderful to see the children's enthusiasm and thoughtfulness as they prepared their gifts and celebrated the important people in their lives.

Lots more fun activities around the theme of Summer this week, focusing on fine motor skills: pen control, scissors, painting etc.
Lots of maths activities and messy play too - the nursery smelt lovely whilst the children made their shaving foam ice creams!!
