Academic Year 2025–2026 complete! ✨

As I finish my first year of being fully self-employed, I just wanted to say an enormous thank you. Looking through some of the lovely cards and messages I’ve received from children and their families has been the perfect way to end the year.

It’s been a privilege to support so many fantastic learners, celebrate their achievements, build their confidence and have so much fun along the way (with plenty of games, laughter and hands-on learning too! 😊).

I’m ready for a well-earned summer break to recharge, but I’m already excited to do it all again in September and help even more children thrive and shine.

A huge thank you to every family who has trusted me to be part of their child’s learning journey this year. It really does mean the world. 💜

🌞 Keeping Cool While Learning! 🌞

The focus of this week's tuition sessions has been staying cool during the heatwave while keeping our brains active and engaged! 😎📚

My superstar learners have enjoyed a range of fun and educational activities, including:
⭐ Times table games
⭐ Multiplication bingo
⭐ Creating fascinating fact files using information from lift-the-flap and pop-up books

The children absolutely loved exploring the books, uncovering hidden information and transforming their discoveries into their own fact files. It's been wonderful to see their curiosity, creativity and confidence shine through.

Despite the soaring temperatures, there has been plenty of hard work, smiles and laughter throughout the week. I'm incredibly proud of everything they've achieved! 😊

💡 Fascinating Fact:Did you know that octopuses have three hearts? Two pump blood to their gills, while the third pumps it around the rest of their body! 🐙❤️❤️❤️

💙📚 Ohana means nobody gets left behind... especially when it comes to reading skills!

This week, some of my superstar learners enjoyed Disney Stitch-themed reading activities designed to develop inference skills.

Using clues from texts and images, children practised making inferences and justifying their ideas with evidence. These are key skills that help readers move beyond simply understanding what is written and begin to think more deeply about meaning.

It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, discussion and thoughtful reasoning throughout the session.

📖 Strong inference skills are essential for reading success, and these learners are making fantastic progress.

🔎📚 Who says reading can't be competitive?

This week, some of my superstar learners took part in a Reading Scavenger Hunt, and it was a huge hit! ✅

Children worked their way through a variety of reading challenges, hunting for information, analysing texts, and answering comprehension questions. The competitive element kept everyone motivated, while encouraging them to think carefully about what they were reading.

One of the highlights was the fantastic discussions that emerged as learners explored interesting facts and tackled unfamiliar vocabulary. Rather than simply finding answers, they were explaining their thinking, making connections, and expanding their understanding of new words.

We also worked on making predictions using photographs, book covers and introductory paragraphs. Learners shared their ideas, explained their reasoning and discovered that good readers are always thinking ahead and asking questions.

Activities like these help children develop essential reading comprehension skills in a fun, engaging way while building confidence and independence as readers.

This week, my superstar learners have been building their spelling confidence through a range of exciting, hands on activities that kept them engaged from start to finish. ✨

🎴 Spelling Pairs
🔍 Spot the Odd One Out

Activities like these help children:
✅ Improve spelling accuracy
✅ Build confidence with writing
✅ Strengthen memory and recall
✅ Develop problem-solving skills
✅ Enjoy learning in a positive, supportive environment

By turning spelling into games and challenges, children are actively thinking about letter patterns, word structure and spelling rules without even realising how much they're learning!

Most importantly, these activities turn spelling revision into a lively and memorable experience that children genuinely enjoy!

🗺️🏴‍☠️ Grammar adventures in full swing!

My superstar learners have been putting their detective skills to the test with our Their, There or They’re Map Maker challenge! 🔍✨

Instead of completing a traditional worksheet, the children read clues, worked out whether their, there or they’re was the correct choice, and then used their answers to build a treasure map piece by piece. 🗝️🗺️

Learning grammar doesn't have to be boring! Activities like this help children:
✅ Understand the meaning behind each word
✅ Build confidence with spelling and writing
✅ Develop independent thinking skills
✅ Learn through hands-on, interactive play

The concentration, teamwork and excitement in the room were amazing to see! 🤩
