What will we find hiding amongst the autumn leaves?🦔

Tweenie Room have been exploring the wonders of autumn through this beautiful, nature-inspired tuff tray! 🍁🌰

We’ve included lots of natural and autumnal treasures to encourage sensory exploration, curiosity and imaginative play. The children can explore different textures, colours, shapes and sizes as they investigate the pinecones, leaves, sticks, conkers and woodland-inspired treasures. 🍂🌲

This invitation to play supports:�✨ Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination�✨ Language development and new vocabulary�✨ Imaginative and small-world play�✨ Sensory exploration�✨ Curiosity and discovery�✨ Confidence and independence

This week we began reading the story "Pumpkin Soup". We talked about the characters and listened carefully to the beginning of the story. We then got creative by using tissue paper to make our own squirrels. To finish the activity, we used bubbly paint to create colourful pictures of pumpkin soup, exploring different textures and colours while developing our creativity and fine motor skills. Our favourite part was popping the bubbles on the paper.

Autumn leaves a falling on top floor 🍁 🍂
To begin making our autumn display top floor have started to make there own leaf. We discussed colours that are associated with autumn and what colours could be used to show our leaves are autumn inspired. We can't wait to see how they will all look when they are all put together on the display. 🍁

Pumpkin soup. 🍁
The children enjoyed making pretend soup using pumpkin, potatoes, peppers and carrots. Together as a group we explored the vegetables by looking at the colours, shapes, and textures of each one. Using bowls, spoons and cutters, the children chopped, stirred and added ingredients to make their own delicious soup. This was a fantastic way to promote independence to safely chop vegetables and explore how some of vegetables we eat in nursery look before they are cooked. 🍁

🍂🍁 Autumn Adventures! 🍁🍂

Today our little explorers wrapped up warm, put on their puddle suits and wellies, and headed out for a wonderful Autumn walk! 🌧️🥾

We had so much fun running through the grass and exploring our surroundings. We searched high and low for leaves, conkers and pinecones 🍂🌰🌲, discovering lots of exciting things along the way!

And, of course, no Autumn adventure would be complete without a little puddle splashing! 💦👢

Tweenies had lots of fun exploring our ‘Autumn Soup’ tuff tray! 🎃🍁

We enjoyed splashing in the orange-coloured water, scooping and pouring, and exploring all the autumnal leaves, pumpkins and other seasonal resources.

We listened to our favourite Autumn songs while we played, making our sensory experience even more exciting! 🎶🍂

There was plenty of pouring, splashing and giggling… and, as you can imagine, we all got VERY wet! 💦😂

This activity promoted the development of skills such as scooping and pouring aswell as fine manipulative and mark making literacy skills 🌰🍁🍂

🍂 Autumn Sensory Fun in the Tweenie Room! 🍁

Tweenie Room have been busy exploring our autumn sensory light-up tray! 🧡✨
The children enjoyed scooping, pouring and moving the lentils around using the different scoops and containers, while discovering all the autumn-themed resources hidden within the tray. 🌰🍂

We explored pinecones, leaves, pumpkins and natural wooden resources, providing lots of opportunities for sensory exploration, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and early mathematical concepts such as filling, emptying and transporting. 🥄

There was lots of curiosity, investigation and wonderful little moments of discovery as the children explored the different textures, colours and sounds of autumn. 🍁🤎

Autumn playdough 🍃 🍁
The children enjoyed making their own cinnamon scented playdough, engaging their senses as they explored soft texture and the cinnamon smell. They used their hands to mix, squeeze and roll the dough, developing hand strength and fine motor control.

Throughout the activity, the children explored quantities as they measured, added ingredients and counted spoonfuls. They noticed changes in the consistency of the mixture as they mixed the ingredients together.

Children practiced stirring, pouring, kneading and shaping the playdough which developed both fine and gross motor movements. The children showed curiosity and independence as they experimented with the dough, using their senses to explore and make decisions about how it felt and what they could create.

🌰🍂 CONKER HUNTING! 🍂🌰

Off we went on an autumn adventure to see if we could find some conkers! 🐿️🍁
Unfortunately, the squirrels had clearly got there before us and had eaten most of the good ones! 😂🐿️ But we did manage to find a few unopened ones, so we brought them back to nursery for a little investigation…
And what better way to open them than with our REAL construction tools! 🔨🪚🔧
The hammers came out, the saws were ready and the drills were put to work! The children had great fun exploring, experimenting and figuring out how to get inside the conkers. 🌰💪
Once opened, our conkers were added to our autumn tuff tray ready for more exploring and play! 🍂🍁
Who knew a little conker hunt could turn into such a busy afternoon!
