Making it REAL is an approach to early literacy project that we are taking part in. Today was our first session that we invited our parents to come along to and it was great fun! The theme was Harvest and we shared stories and rhymes around that theme, the children enjoyed all of the activities and they even visited the Patch and harvested some of the vegetables and picked blackberries. And the sun was shining! ☀️

Wishing all our wonderful pre schoolers the very best as you begin your journey into Reception. 💚

This is so true, we see this happening at every session at BFS and BFPS.

It's wonderful to watch what happens when kid play in nature. Without scripts or structures, their imaginations take the lead — inventing games, solving problems, and exploring the world on their own terms.

Those moments of free play aren’t just fun. They’re building creativity, independence, and confidence that can last a lifetime.

Sometimes the best playground is simply the outdoors!

Today we celebrated our wonderful preschool leavers in a way that truly reflects who we are.

Each of our children received an oak sapling from our site to take home—a symbol of strength, growth, and the exciting journey ahead as they prepare to start school. We hope they will enjoy watching their little tree grow, just as they have grown during their time with us.

We chose to celebrate the children with something that felt meaningful: a family picnic filled with laughter, play, shared memories, and time together.
Our celebration put the children at the very heart of what matters most—feeling happy, valued, and celebrated in a relaxed, familiar environment where they could simply be themselves. Childhood is about making memories, building relationships, and enjoying special moments with the people who matter most. We are so proud of every one of our preschool leavers and all they have achieved. Thank you to our amazing families for sharing this special day with us. We wish our little oak trees every happiness and success as they take their next step into school.

This is a really interesting article about the link between pre school age children spending time outdoors and their mental health during adolescence. Even more proof that time spent outdoors is so very important. We have places at our Forest pre school available for September. Contact us for further information [email protected]
