WHATSAPP GUIDANCE

Please find attached guidance on how to monitor and support the use of Whatsapp at home.

​

Some parents and children have raised concerns about things being shared and posted on Whatsapp, which have then spilled into school. Please take the time to check your child's phone and to discuss the guidance with them.

🚕🚙 ROAD SAFETY 🚘🅿️🚶‍♀️

Now that we’re back at school, we are already seeing an increase in traffic around the school.

If Shiny Buttons was here, I don’t think he’d be very happy with some of the grown-ups we’ve become! 🙈

We know that sometimes taking the car is unavoidable, but where possible, please consider walking to school or parking a little further away and walking the rest of the journey.

We have seen cars:

🚗 Parking outside the school
🚗 Trying to turn around on the cramped Lang Avenue
🚗 Parking in the school staff car park
🚗 Parking several cars deep near the bottom of the road by the lollipop crossing patrol
🚗 Turning in residents’ car parks

There have also been reports of near misses, where cars have almost hit children.

We really don’t want to wait until someone is seriously hurt before we make changes to how we park and drive around the school.

Please help us keep our children safe. If you need to drive, please consider parking further away from the school and walking the final part of your journey. And if you can walk to school, please do! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️❤️

Let’s all do our bit to make the school gates a safer place for everyone. ❤️

As schools across Scotland prepare to start their autumn term this month, Ziggy and Maggie are ready to start their own school adventure too.

In Ziggy and Maggie Start School, Primary 1 children can learn all the ways to make sure they get to school safely. They can also look out for the book in this year’s Scottish Book Trust Bookbug Primary 1 Family Bag!

🚸 A reminder about road safety at the start of term 🚸

As we start a new school year, we thought it would be a good time to remind everyone about the importance of road safety around the school.

Please do not park on Lang Avenue or the adjoining roads. These roads are not safe for parking or turning without causing disruption to local residents, and more importantly, this can create dangerous situations for our children.

The safety of our children is our priority, and we all have a responsibility to help keep them safe. ❤️

If you can, please take the extra time to walk, cycle, skip or scoot to school. Alternatively, you can park on Broadloan and walk the rest of the way.

Please also remember that the school car park should not be used for drop-off or parking, unless you are using the designated disabled parking space. If you do need to use this space, please take extra care around children and other pedestrians.
