Well done to our Pupil of the Week winners for demonstrating school values, for being a good friend and for being an important part of

We have already kicked off our community links with the local high school. The seniors from RHS have been coaching some of our children during PE lessons.

We shared a number of photos at assembly today, of the children working in class and accessing all areas of the school while demonstrating the 4 main areas we are currently focusing on together.

We also have some lost property already gathering. If you have misplaced a jumper, cardigan, trainers, trousers, water bottles etc, please pop into the school office at some point soon to see if it is there.

WIDER ACHIEVEMENT ASSEMBLY

UNCRC Article 31 - Rest, Play, Culture, Arts

Congratulations to this year’s House Captains, who introduced themselves to the rest of the school at today’s assembly.

Our Pupil of the Week winners were recognised for being a good friend and for being an important part of Team Newmains

The children also enjoyed sharing their Wider Achievements of what they have been up to outside of school. From winning medals and trophies at competitions to performing and singing at local events, the children did themselves proud!

Mrs Hall also spoke to the P5, P6 and P7 children about Glee - look out for a see saw message with more information about a Come and Try session tomorrow.

PUPIL PARLIAMENT AND MEETING WITH ACTIVE SCHOOLS

UNCRC Article 3 - Best interests of the child

This week, our children met with Will Brown, Active Schools Coordinator and Fiona White, Health and Wellbeing Coordinator for Renfrewshire.

Both meetings were very much focused on sharing our pupil suggestions of what activities would be good for all of Team Newmains.

The newly established Pupil Parliament has been given their first assignment of linking with Fiona about what should be included in our school assemblies. Fiona was excellent at allowing the children to share their ideas and has set the challenge of helping her deliver the first wellbeing assembly in 2 weeks.

Will met with the first of our P7 Health and Wellbeing Ambassadors to discuss extra curricular clubs and other ideas for making Health and Wellbeing an important focus for Team Newmains over the next term.

Fiona commented on how the children in the Pupil Parliament led the conversation confidently and Will was very impressed by the suggestions made during his discussions.

The rest of the school have also been enjoying outdoor breaks, accessing the various play areas as well as the new playground equipment provided by the PTA.

Team Newmains is off to a great start!

ROTA Kids - FUNDRAISING AT NEWMAINS

Our ROTA Kids reps presented our friend from Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity with a cheque for £200 on the last day of summer term.
Who would have thought selling 20p ice lollies would have equated to such an impressive amount!

Well done to Mrs Millar, the team for their amazing fundraising efforts and to our families for your support … watch this space for more fundraising endeavours this year.

We will be recruiting a new cohort of ROTA Kids in the coming weeks as well as all other committees and pupil leadership groups.

TEAM NEWMAINS - FIRST WEEK BACK

The children have returned to school ready to go! It’s been great to see all our pupils in class and engaging in the various first week back activities.

Ask your child about their new Class Charter they have helped create and the questionnaires they may have already completed to get their thoughts and opinions on being part of TeamNewmains!

We also had our first assembly of the year - our new P1s sat well throughout with the amazing support from our P7 Buddies. Look out for more posts in the coming days on your child’s class Seesaw page.
