Micklefield School, Reigate Micklefield is an independent coeducational school and nursery for children aged 2 1/2 to 11 years old.

We are located close to Reigate town centre, just a few minutes walk from Reigate train station, making the school an excellent choice for parents who commute to work each day. Reigate itself is a vibrant town which has been voted one of the best places to live in the UK on several occasions. It has parks and green spaces close to the centre and local sports clubs are often hubs of friendship for parents and children outside of school. Micklefield has a strong family focus with relationships, communication and shared values at the heart of everything we do. Learning is fun here and our children feel happy and loved. Our ethos, combined with small class sizes, pioneering teaching methods and a broad range of extracurricular activities, ensure the children excel academically. They also grow into kind, well rounded individuals with strong values and personal skills which will help them lead happy and successful lives well beyond their time at Micklefield. We are proud to be part of the Reigate Grammar School (RGS) family and this means Micklefield children can transfer to RGS senior school without the need to sit an exam (instead their progress is closely tracked). We also have a renowned 11+ programme to support children who wish to transfer to other senior schools.

🧪✨ Marvellous Medicine in Year 4! ✨🧪

This half term, Year 4 have been studying George’s Marvellous Medicine in English and today they brought their learning to life with an exciting Potion Making Lesson!

Before entering the secret Potion Laboratory, the children solved a series of riddles, recalling their learning on imperative verbs, character descriptions, time connectives and fronted adverbials.

Once inside, a spectacular fizzing and bubbling experiment set the scene before the children carefully followed instructions to create their very own marvellous medicines, combining creativity with their instruction-writing skills.

It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm, imagination and teamwork, they all had an absolute blast!🧪✨🔮

Year 1 Step Back in Time at the Rural Life Museum

On Wednesday, Year 1 enjoyed an educational visit to the Rural Life Museum near Farnham, where they immersed themselves in the customs and routines of Victorian life.

Dressed in traditional costumes, with pinafores and mob caps for the girls and caps, waistcoats and neckerchiefs for the boys, the children truly looked the part.

Following a brief opportunity to explore and play, the school bell rang and silence fell as the children lined up to enter a Victorian classroom. Under the watchful eye of a strict Victorian teacher, the pupils wrote on slates, sat in neat rows and experienced the discipline and expectations of the era. To bring history to life, some children took on specific roles, including wearing a dunce's cap or using a posture board, helping them gain a deeper understanding of Victorian school life.

It was a fascinating and memorable outing, bringing history to life in a truly engaging way.

✨🧚‍♀️📖 Fairy Tale Day at Micklefield Nursery📖🧚‍♂️✨

Micklefield Nursery enjoyed a magical Fairy Tale Day packed with adventure, imagination and fun!

Dressed in a wonderful array of costumes, they set off to Reigate Castle Grounds. After listening to the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk', they were tasked with finding ten missing magic beans hidden around the castle grounds. The children showed fantastic teamwork and determination as they tracked them all down!

Back at Micklefield, the fairy tale fun continued with a magical Playball session, followed by a Three Little Pigs themed Science challenge. The children built houses from straw, sticks and bricks before the Big Bad Wolf (in the form of a hairdryer!) arrived to see if he could blow them all down.

It was a magical day filled with laughter, learning and wonderful memories! 🏰🐷📚

🩺🥼🩻🤕 People Who Help Us 🩺🥼🩻🤕

As part of their 'Together We Shine' topic, Micklefield Reception children have been learning about the important people who help us in our local community.

They were excited to welcome Dr Lane, a GP from Dorking, who shared her experiences and helped the children discover how doctors care for people and keep our communities healthy.

The children enjoyed a range of hands-on activities, including checking temperatures with ear thermometers, practising bandaging injuries, using stethoscopes and pulse monitors to learn about the heart and caring for cuddly toy patients with pretend injections!

It has been a fantastic week of exploration and discovery as the children learned more about their bodies and the valuable role healthcare professionals play in our everyday lives. A big thank you to Dr Lane for giving her time and inspiring our young learners. 💙

🍂🥣 Nursery Enjoy ‘Soup of the Season’ 🥣🍂

At Micklefield Nursery, we love creating opportunities to bring our families and community together. This week, we were delighted to host our much-loved annual ‘Soup of the Season’ Harvest celebration.

Our Nursery children have been busy baking delicious homemade hedgehog-shaped rolls, which were shared alongside warming seasonal soup and enjoyed by all. It was lovely to come together, celebrate the harvest season and create special memories with our families. 💛🍁

Many congratulations to RGS!
