🌱 We’re proud to be featured in the Eco-Schools Impact Report 2026.

This year, 68 Bright Horizons nurseries achieved the Eco-Schools Early Years Green Flag Award, recognising the incredible sustainability work taking place across our settings. From creating wildlife-friendly spaces and growing produce to reducing waste and learning about protecting our planet, children have been discovering how even small actions can make a big difference.

Swipe through to explore four of the inspiring nursery projects featured in the report. 💚

It’s International Literacy Week, and we’re feeling a little nostalgic.

We took to the streets outside to ask one simple question:
What’s your favourite childhood book and why?

The answers reminded us that books are about so much more than stories.
They hold memories, spark imagination, and stay with us long after the final page.
From Winnie-the-Pooh, read at bedtime by a dad night after night, to Where the Wild Things Are, inspiring endless adventures and imagination, each answer had a story behind it.
Now we’d love to hear yours. 💙

Tell us in the comments: What’s your favourite childhood book and why?

Was it a book that made you laugh? One that became part of your bedtime routine? Or one that sparked your imagination and stayed with you forever?

One lucky winner will receive a Waterstones voucher to help create even more story time memories.

What can look like “just messy play” is often so much more. Behind every splash, scoop and squish is a chance for children to build confidence, curiosity and independence in ways that feel natural to them.

At our Open Day, you’ll have the chance to see how activities like this support your child’s learning and development in the early years.

What a wonderfully messy, magical week we’ve had! 🌈

Our 2-3 year old's have been very busy getting hands-on with all sorts of exciting textures, colours and sensory surprises 🎨✨

All week long, the children have been making their very own process art masterpiece, experimenting, splashing, squishing and mixing to see what happens next. And here it is… the big reveal of all their creations!

🪣 Sand + water = squishy fun!
🫧 Water + washing-up liquid = bubbly magic!
❄️ Ice and water play
🖍️ Group process art with vibrant paint sticks
🌈 Colour mixing fun with cornflour, water and food colouring — watching colours swirl, blend and transform!

It’s been a joyful, sensory-filled week full of discovery, creativity and lots of giggles. The children have absolutely loved exploring the world around them in the messiest, most marvellous ways! 💫

Sensory Play Adventures! 🌟

Our babies had the loveliest time today exploring a range of sensory experiences using sawdust, hay, sand, soap flakes and water. These open‑ended materials encouraged lots of curiosity as the children discovered new textures, smells and sensations. The children then extended their learning by adding animals to the table, to move them around and make marks.

Through play, they also explored early mathematical concepts with adults supporting their learning—
💛 counting handfuls and scoops
💛 using positional language such as in, on, under and next to with the animals
💛 noticing differences in size, volume and quantity

Sensory play like this not only supports early maths and language, but also helps develop fine motor skills and promotes confidence as babies experiment and investigate the world around them.

So much learning in such simple, natural resources! Maybe you can try creating some of your own sensory trays and bags at home, by using zip-lock bags or baking trays/tuff trays 💛
