Three habits. Almost everyone in the room has done all three this week.
Hands down after the shot. Arm punch, leg swing, no hip. Breath held until the combination is over.
On the bag it looks fine. In sparring it is a free jab, a free hook, and a dead round at minute two.
That is what we clean up in class. Punch, return. Heel, hip, fist. Jab, hiss. Cross, hiss. Kick, hiss.
Come train it with the group. The bag will not tell you. A partner will.

Everyone sees the fights and the medals.

What they don’t see is the real day-to-day life of a kickboxing coach.

I get to spend my days helping people become fitter, stronger and more confident. I watch complete beginners become martial artists, nervous kids become confident young adults, and stressed adults leave class smiling.

The only real downside?

The admin. 😅

Messages. Bookings. Timetables. Insurance. Social media. The glamorous side no one tells you about.

But if that’s the price I pay for spending my days doing what I love, it’s a bargain I’d make every single time.

The last bout of the day…young Will stormed through his opponent’s to take gold much to the delight of his team mates and friends. Will has great composure for someone so young and always gives it everything he has. A gold medal for him this time. One up from@the silver he earned last time. I look forward to seeing where he goes with his Kickboxing
