The Fred Harris Education Award 2026 for St Day & Carharrack Primary School, which rewards a Y6 student for making a difference to their school and community, has been presented to Kairyn Mole. Congratulations Kairyn!

The school said:

His gently, caring nature and calm presence have a grounding influence on both his classmates and the wider school community. Every day, he takes the time to check in with peers and adults, showing genuine care and empathy for those around him. Our Year 6 children did us proud once again last week when they took part in the Redruth Youth Conference - talking passionately about the importance of using your voice to make a positive change.

While at the conference they made the most of the opportunity to explore Kresen Kernow and also renewed their commitment to the planet, writing environmental pledges linked to climate action.

Opal Class had a fantastic treat this morning when a selection of our brilliant Year 5s joined them!

We love collaborative learning and it was a perfect opportunity for some of our older children to mentor our youngest class in their reading before moving on to show them new ways to code using Scratch Jr.

The Year 5s did such a great job, sharing their genuine love of learning and igniting passion for key subject areas.

Amazing stuff from Opal and our Year 5s!

What a fabulous sleepover event!

With Year 2 in Oasis and Year 4 on the field, the whole school was full of the sound of laughter as our brilliant children embarked on their overnight adventure!
