I keep seeing this line about *3,000 new school nurseries* for babies from 9 months old that will “give children the best start in life.”
That’s a massive, one-size-fits-all claim — and it’s simply not true.
Don’t get me wrong: **at Redruth Nurseries**, we absolutely support families choosing school nursery at 3/4 if it’s right for their child. We work closely with our local school nurseries and think very highly of them.
But saying school is *the* “best start” for *every* child from 9 months? No.
Children are individuals. Families are different. Needs vary.
Some children thrive in a private nursery.
Some do best with a childminder.
Some families choose to keep their little ones at home.
All of those can be the “best start” — depending on the child.
And the data backs it up: **98% of childminders and PVI nurseries are rated Good or Outstanding** — the highest percentage of all provider types.
So please: don’t buy the headline. Choose the setting that fits *your* child.
