The current education system doesn't work for everyone, but Cornwall College is here to change that! ✨️

Our Multi Skills course is a one-year program designed for young students who need a different path. Students rotate through wood trades, plumbing, and electrical departments, discovering their passions and hidden talents.

Check out their amazing work! Reading technical drawings, marking timber, and using hand tools effectively to create phone holders and wood joints. Great work everyone! 🙌🏻

Our Level 2 Furniture Makers have been mastering the art of finishing! 🙌🏻

With their bespoke side tables nearing completion, they're perfecting correct timber preparation, application techniques, and desired outcomes for a flawless finish. An excellent chance to experiment with the results of various oils, waxes, pigments, and stains on multiple different timbers.

Saturday Skills is back! 🙌🏻 Our first session was all about hand tools and woodwork essentials.

Well done to our talented group for embracing the challenge! We explored common tools and techniques, started on basic joints, learnt the story of the timber we had been using, and finished with dovetail expertise.

Her dedication has led to outstanding progress, with impressive finished pieces and design prototypes that showcase her continuous improvement. Through hands-on experience and detailed theory lessons, Charlie's skills and knowledge have developed rapidly, giving her the confidence to explore new techniques 🪑

Each tasked to design and build their own bespoke furniture item, ranging from TV units to dressers to umbrella holders. The focus has been on curved and geometric elements, computer aided design and operating workshop machinery.

Mastering machinery is key! 🤖

In our Bench Joinery courses, students learn the importance of correct maintenance, setup, and technique for workshop machinery. From bandsaws and panel saws to tennoners, spindle molders and planers, we cover it all!

All whilst making muilti-joint frames, panel doors and stairs! An amazing wealth of knowledge at Cornwall College (Ofsted Outstanding 😉)
