What an exciting morning it has been ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿš’๐Ÿงฏ

Today was the start of our new topic โ€˜People who help us โ€˜ and it has started with a bang ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Today we had a visit from the lovely Fire crew at Tolvadon. During this visit we explored their Fire Engine and spoke about the number we would call in the case of an emergency. As well as this we also discussed the importance of smoke alarms within the household whilst dressing up in helmets and spraying the hose to put out pretend fires ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Thank you so much to Mike , Callum , Alex and Steve for visiting us on this lovely day.

We have really enjoyed focusing on โ„๏ธWinterโ„๏ธ

Winter offers a lovely opportunity to slow down, observe change, and spark curiosity in young children. As the world outside transforms, so too do the experiences we can offer in the early years.

The colder weather invites rich sensory play โ€” feeling icy air on our cheeks, observing our "dragon breath" ๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŒฌ, exploring frost on leaves, or listening to the crunch of frozen ground beneath our boots. These moments help children build language as they describe what they see, hear, and feel, while also developing an early understanding of the natural world.

Winter also encourages meaningful conversations like; Why do trees lose their leaves? How do animals keep warm? What happens when water freezes? Through stories, songs, and hands-on exploration, children begin to make sense of seasonal change in ways that feel magical and accessible.

Indoors, winter is the perfect time for cosy connections. Shared stories, small-world play with winter scenes, and creative activities like snowflake printing or painting cool colours support imagination, fine motor skills, and emotional well-being. These calm, nurturing experiences are just as important as active outdoor play.
