THE WELCOME CLUB – INFORMATION UPDATE 🌟

📍 St Day Community Centre
🗓️ 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month
⏰ 2.00pm – 4.00pm

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to The Welcome Club! 😊

We enjoy a lovely variety of activities and entertainment, including 🎶 music, 🎨 crafts, 💃 line dancing, 📸 local photos and videos, 🗣️ talks and information, 🧠 quizzes, 🎱 bingo and much more!

There’s also plenty of time for a cup of tea or coffee, biscuits and a friendly chat. ☕🍪

Everyone is very welcome – come along and join us! ❤️

🎃🌽 **What a fantastic display of Cornish creativity!** 🌽🎃

A huge **thank you to all the fantastic entrants** who took part in the **Carharrack Parish Council Cornish-Themed Scarecrow Competition 2026**! 🙌

We’ve been blown away by the imagination, creativity and effort that has gone into all the wonderful scarecrows around the village. A special thank you to the **United Downs Environment Group** for taking on the difficult job of judging this year’s entries! 👏

🏆 **And our winners are…**

🥇 **1st Prize – The Tin Miner** ⛏️
🥈 **2nd Prize – Excalibur** ⚔️
🥉 **3rd Prize – Cornish Cream Tea** ☕🍰

A massive congratulations to our winners, and well done to **everyone who entered** – you’ve made the village a brilliant place to wander around and enjoy!

Firefighters are responding to a wildfire at Carn Marth, near Lanner. Smoke is visible around Lanner and Redruth.

If you’re travelling through the area, please take care. If you live nearby, keep your windows and doors closed.

Cornwall is at increased risk of wildfires due to the warm, dry conditions. Please help prevent fires by avoiding BBQs and campfires in the open countryside, taking all rubbish home and disposing of ci******es safely. Never throw cigarette ends from a vehicle.

If you see a fire, move to a safe place and call 999.

🎉 Get Ready for Carharrack's Cornish-Themed Scarecrow Competition! 🎉

It's time to get creative and bring our village to life!

Whether you're inspired by Cornish legends, mining heritage, the coast, fishing, or all things Kernow, we'd love to see your imagination shine. Better yet, challenge yourself to use recycled and upcycled materials to create your masterpiece! ♻️

📅 Workshop with tips & inspiration: 8th August at Mills Hall Market.
🏆 Judging takes place: 15th August
🎁 Prizes to be won!

This is a fantastic way to get involved, have fun with family and friends, and help make Carharrack even more colourful and welcoming.

So gather your straw, paint, old clothes, cardboard, tins and anything else you can recycle... and let's fill the village with amazing Cornish scarecrows! 🌽🎨

To enter: Please register your scarecrow by Wednesday 13th August by emailing [email protected] with your name and address. Scarecrows must be out for judging on Saturday morning on the 15th August - come rain or shine!

🚗 Community Speed Watch – Volunteers Needed

Following concerns raised about speeding through the village, we are now ready to establish a Community Speed Watch team for Carharrack.

If you previously expressed an interest, or would like to get involved, please register online and join the CARHARRACK CSW group.

Registration steps:
• Click Register
• Select Join Existing Team
• Choose Devon and Cornwall Police
• Select Cornwall West
• Choose CARHARRACK CSW
• Complete the online training videos and quiz

We need a minimum of four volunteers to get the scheme up and running, so please consider signing up and share this post with anyone who may be interested.

If you experience any difficulties with the registration process, please email [email protected] and mark your message FAO Elaine Fell, including your name and contact number. Assistance will be provided to help you complete the registration.

Together we can help make our village roads safer for everyone.
