At Joyful Tots Nursery Redhill, we are always reflecting on our learning environment based around what we feel benefits our current cohort of children.

Here’s what we have been up to this week 🤩;

🌟 we have further developed our ‘sensory space’ by transforming our Staff Room into our very own ✨sensory room✨; providing the children with a separate room for those much needed sensory breaks throughout the day. It also doubles up as the perfect space to conduct small group sessions and focused assessments.

🌟 we have implemented a ‘mark making’ area ✍️ - ‘drawing’ 😅 from the children’s very keen interest in experimenting with creating marks on paper using pencils and other materials and tools.

🌟 we have also put together a Play Dough Station within our Creative Area; following our observation of a consistent interest in play dough activities 😊. Providing opportunities to explore play dough supports sensory stimulation, creative modelling and helps strengthen the muscles in fingers and hands in support of fine motor development.

✨ School Leavers Celebration Event ✨

At Joyful Tots last week, we enjoyed treating our 2026 school leavers to a celebration event 🎉.

We held a short graduation ceremony in which the children were handed certificates of achievement and gifts before we all enjoyed a party platter 😋.

At this time of year we experience a real mixture of emotions; proud of all the children have achieved 🤩 grateful to have been a part of their early years development 🥰 sad that it means we will no longer see their little faces every week 😢.

A big ‘thank you’ to all of the parents who have worked in partnership with us during their children’s time with us so that collectively we have supported their school readiness 😊.

We wish all of our 2026 school leavers the very best of luck with their transition to ‘big’ school!

Last week at Joyful Tots Redhill we held a ‘set ups’ competition 🏆.

We asked the team to really consider how they were setting up their learning zones to promote engagement.

We were very impressed with everyone’s motivation towards the challenge and there were some great efforts all round, so a big ‘well done’ to everyone 🤩.

We are very pleased to announce with you all that

🌟 Shauna 🌟 is our overall competition winner 🥇. She completely transformed the Home Corner/Role-play area last week. One day it was a Grocery Store/Supermarket, the next day it was a Cafe selling teas, coffees and cakes!
