Happy Friday All! What a beautiful day today in London, frosty and cold start but the sunshine is making its way through then clouds. ☀️☀️☀️
Just had a thought about bossy bosses. Share your views.

I had a reflection today about different types of bosses and their influence on people they work with after speaking with my colleague at work. There are many different types e.g. the screamer boss, manipulator, buddy, martyr, patronising or paranoid boss. I have read about 21 different types and the worst ever is the manipulator boss. The manipulator boss (the one from our agenda today) is highly focused, very motivated, and always has a secret plan. Known as the Machiavellian boss, this type is extremely intelligent and one of the most dangerous. The world is a giant pyramid and the apex is his. People he touches or runs over on the way to the top are casualties he writes off. If you work for a manipulator, watch your back, watch what you say and who is that you are talking to, as he might see you as a threat. Definitely not my type. Simple bully. How do you cope with a boss like that? Do you follow his lead unconditionally or do you put up a fight? What was the worst/best boss ever you had? And what qualities would you see in a great boss? What kind of BOSS ARE YOU?

How are the first 3 weeks of 2018? Are you sticking to your New Year resolution or have broken them all already? Wherever I go I see posters like this one below. Everyone and almost everywhere is giving us advice, telling us how to do things, how to change your life, be healthy, how to be fu***ng awsome and have many friends (ha!, the real ones) and how to manage your time, how to feel good etc. Do I have to change every year? What can't I be me, just me and nothing but ME? I get it, people will go for it because they are told that there is something better than their current life or job, something bigger is waiting for them. But not everyone is made to be a great leader or have a business, not everyone will have guts to move abroad and turn their life around. People will complain about their life but won't do much to change this vegetation state. Is that bad? If they are happy, let them be.

To say or not to say...That is the question.
I have been thinking recently to what extent we are actually free to say what we think. Where are the boundaries/what are the limitations of free speech, expressing our thoughts and opinions? Especially at work.
Are we free to say out loud what we REALLY think, bearing in mind that someone might not necessarily agree with our opinions, that being in a group we are singled out when our opinion is different, and makes us to feel like an outsider? That they might not invite you for a drink after work as you are so opinionated that you are almost a party pooper.
I am not apologising for who I am.
I wrote in my previous post that putting a mask is the way of surviving in a hostile environment. But is it going to such extreme is the only way? Where is the REAL you and where is the FAKE you? Can you do both?

Assertiveness versus selfishness. 🎽 To what extent do we maintain the either of, at home, work or when establishing new business relationships? And to what point we start using others to our advantage? Consciously or subconsciously. Do we have to be selfish to achieve what we want? Some will say yes, some will disagree. Is being pushy the only way forward as being too nice will be taken as a weakness and might be used against us? Planning next steps in a career is focusing on your needs, desires and outcomes.🏀🎯 Yet, being able to seek help is the first step to self awareness and recognition that being a lone wolf is not the only way forward. Sharing good practice makes people to be better and wanting to be better and help others. This topic is currently occupying my mind and will create a post very soon. 💡💡💡👌

Sometimes we do need time alone. Away from the noise and everyday hustle. Time to reflect, think or plan what to do next. Time to calm down and clear the mind to face the new challenges.
Have a great week ahead!
