Richard Westray back in the pmFlight A320 sim yesterday. Richard has been running training sessions at pmFlight for several years after leaving Easy Jet. His flying career with BA included 707, 747-200 & 400, 777 and Concorde. Richard flew for Easy Jet for ten years and has helped many into employment before covid. Now, he is running various bounce back sim sessions and LPC preps. Anyone with a bit of a flying gap given the current situation, or self funding an LPC this can be a really good way to hit the boards running at pmFlight before the LPC check or back to work sims. It was great to hear from Amy Irvine, who’d been doing some A320 fixed based training with us. Amy has now passed her final stage, completing base training with Volotea; “Just a quick update from me - I went to Spain last week and completed my Base Training with Volotea!! It was so amazing and I got some really good feedback from the Captains both in the pre-base sim and during my circuits, which was great considering the six month break in training. I know the sessions with you and Richard Westray helped immensely in preparing and reassuring me for this occasion and I’d really like to thank you for your help and support in organising this and also for the info and contacts re. flying opportunities.”

I’m just re-sharing this post by Capt. Fred Carter. We had such a great JOC with a experienced turbo prop pilot transitioning to jets. Apart from a great applicant who took so well to the course we are happy to have helped, all round it was a great and positive experience!

What a privilege and an honour to be able to help fellow pilots either learn new skills or refresh the old ones, having been a training captain in Qatar it is great to be back in the training environment, hopefully passing on invaluable training/information/tips and skills that I have learnt over the last 22 years from amazing trainers and colleagues. Aviation is my passion and I appreciate how lucky I am, especially in these uncertain times, to be able to still play a part in this incredible industry.

I flew this sim for the first time 2 weeks ago and I was reminded that, even with 22 years in commercial aviation, my skills were not what they used to be having not set foot in a flight deck since March!

Covid-19 sim update.

“Rusty Refresher” Bounce Back sims. Instrument work, refresh sops / memory items, LPC practice, circuits! Either in a free-play environment or instructor lead. We have put together sim refreshers at greatly discounted rates (and package deals) for those effected by the current situation and want to keep current prior to any up and coming checks using Fixed Base 737 or A320 sims. Or FFS as required.

The simulators are operating normally now with certain access / facility restrictions and pre planning requirements for those wishing to visit us.

As well a BA main line simulator preparation which has just switched over from 767 to 747-400, we are now starting the BA NQPP scheme (Newly Qualified Pilot Pathway). We will be posting more information about the training opportunities for this in the coming days.

Practise the BA check scenarios. We are continuing to run the 2018 simulator preparation for BA 767 and BA 747 sim checks. Preparation can be done cost effectively in 767 or 747 sim generic FBS modes or in FFS. We encourage multicrew / dual applicant team up.
