What an honour it was to fly Brian on his 80th birthday! 🥳 When Brian's son got in touch with us to arrange the surprise present, he told us that Brian had "lived and breathed aviation his whole life, and had a pilot's licence many decades ago".

We couldn't wait to meet Brian and were delighted to be able to arrange the flight so that he could fly over both Biggin Hill and also his house! Brian brought along his very first headset, which he had used many years ago when he was learning to fly and was proud to show it off, along with his lovely leather flying jacket!

However, neither were needed on the day as XX624 has fantastic noise-cancelling headsets, plus a great heater too! Brian enjoyed a fun low-level "beat-up" past his delighted family, before taking control to fly along our popular "Battle of Britain" route. His flying skills were immediately apparent and Brian clearly enjoyed being back in the air again!

What a great pleasure it was to meet Darren from New Zealand, who organised a couple of flights in XX624 on a recent visit to London.🥰🇬🇧

Darren had never flown a Bulldog before, but had spent many years flying the CT4 for the Australian Defence Force. He had heard how great the Bulldog was and was keen to find out for himself!

As it was his first flight in the UK, Darren elected to fly to Brighton City Airport to carry out some general handling and get a feel for the aeroplane, before enjoying a leisurely lunch at the and soaking up the sunshine and history at Shoreham Airport.

After lunch, it was time to try a few before returning to Redhill in the sparkling winter sunshine.☀️

"I had a special day today flying with Red Dog Aviation in their beautiful Bulldog XX624.

Upon my initial email query, communications with Sam were excellent, she quickly organised a suitable date whilst Laurance got to work on my requested flight profile.

On my flying day the weather was perfect and Laurance proved an utter gentleman and very patient Instructor. During our two hour flight he showed me the wartime locations I had requested to see, and a many other interesting historical locations. Laurance had me fly for most of our flight and had a genuine and detailed knowledge of all things flying and local history.

This was an excellent day with thanks to Sam and Laurance who were both delightful and very genuine to work with. I’m currently trying to confirm another flying date in XX624 during my next trip to London".

XX624 is back from her Annual Service and this year she also had a propeller overhaul. We think you'll agree that her prop is looking fab and ready for lots of flying fun in 2026!❤

Taking advantage of a bright January day, we had lots of fun taking her up and playing around the clouds - admiring our reflection in the "glory" halo produced by the sun.🥰🌤️

After a some and a few steep turns, a PA28 spotted us having fun and wandered closer to admire the Bulldog (keeping a safe distance) before heading back on its way. Meanwhile, sailors on Bough Beech Reservoir were also making the most of the beautiful .

Did you know that you can revalidate/renew your SEP in Scottish Aviation Bulldog XX624? If you need your biennial flight with an instructor, why not consider adding a new type to your logbook at the same time?

Recently James needed to do his flight with an instructor and contacted us to perform this in XX624 for the second time. He says: "I went with Laurance in XX624 for my biennial revalidation. In fact, with Laurance's help we also used the occasion to swap round at the aero engineers the Bulldog with my Pup whose ARC was just about to expire. We had two wonderful flights past Motissfont Abbey, Longford Castle, Salisbury Cathedral and the Fovant badges to achieve this. The Bulldog is in the most beautiful condition, powerful, comfortable with an unparalleled view through the canopy!" James

What a pleasure it was to meet Emma and to introduce her to the fun of light aircraft flying in Scottish Aviation Bulldog XX624. The delights of flying this aircraft are beautifully summed up by Emma in the following testimonial:

"This was my very first flight experience, and honestly something I never imagined I’d have the chance or the confidence to do. From the moment I arrived, Sam & Laurance made me feel completely welcome, relaxed and at ease. Their calm, friendly approach and clear explanations meant any nerves disappeared almost immediately.

Seeing the rare Bulldog up close was incredible to see and once airborne the experience just kept getting better. The hour-long flight took place under a perfect clear blue sky, with stunning sightseeing as we flew around castles and beautiful countryside. It was peaceful, awe-inspiring and gave a totally new perspective from the air.

The aerobatics at the end were absolutely thrilling and expertly flown. Everything was explained beforehand, and I always felt safe and in control of what was happening, which made it so much more fun!

The landing was the perfect finale: a dynamic turn followed by a high-speed pass that really got the heart racing. I landed with a huge smile on my face. I was able to log my very first flight into my logbook which made me feel a real sense of achievement.
