🟠☀️ AMBER HEAT WARNING – IMPORTANT PARENT UPDATE ☀️🟠
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have another Amber Heat Warning coming into effect from Wednesday through to Thursday, with the possibility of continuing into Friday.
As always, the safety, health and wellbeing of all our children and staff will remain our highest priority.
Throughout the hot weather, we will continue to follow our nursery heatwave policies and procedures, alongside the relevant Local Authority guidance. We will be closely monitoring the children, staff and temperatures within the building throughout each day.
Our intention is to remain open as normal for as long as it is safe and appropriate to do so. However, as we experienced during the previous period of extreme heat, temperatures inside the building can rise considerably as we move into the afternoon.
If we feel that conditions are becoming too uncomfortable or are beginning to affect the safety and wellbeing of the children or staff, we may need to make the difficult decision to close earlier than usual.
If an early closure is necessary, we aim to make and communicate that decision by 1:00pm each day.
If you choose to collect your child earlier during these hot days, please let us know, as this will help us with our planning.
Likewise, if you decide to keep your child/children at home due to the heat, please let us know as early as possible so that we know who to expect each day.
☀️ Please Help Us Before Your Child Arrives
As children may be accessing the outdoors from early in the day, please ensure:
🧴 Sunscreen is applied to your child before they arrive at nursery or preschool.
🧢 Your child brings a named sun hat.
💧 Your child brings a named drinks bottle each day.
We will continue to encourage children to drink regularly, make use of shaded areas, adapt outdoor activities and closely monitor everyone throughout the day.
📱 Please keep a close eye on your Dojo messages throughout Wednesday, Thursday and potentially Friday, as this is where we will provide important updates or any changes to collection arrangements.
We completely understand that changes to opening hours can be difficult, particularly for our working families. Please be assured that any decision to close early will never be taken lightly and will only be made with the safety and welfare of our children and staff in mind.
Thank you once again for your continued understanding, flexibility and support. Working together makes such a difference during these periods of extreme heat.
Kind regards,
The Management Team
