This is what live fire training actually looks like when you're being taught by experienced firefighters 🔥

There's a big difference between watching someone demonstrate and doing it yourself.

That difference could be the very thing that helps a person know what to do in the case of an emergency.

🗓️September is around the corner, and so is the new academic year, bringing a whole load of new pupils, new staff and new responsibilities with it!

It’s worth asking the question now, before September: how many of your staff members are actually trained? And is this training up to date with new roles?

The fire service attended 417 fires in UK schools last year alone. There’s every chance this number could have been smaller if staff were fully prepared.

Review your school’s safety initiatives now, before the doors open again ‼️

Does your moral obligation to protect your employees end when they leave at 5pm?

At UK Fire Training, we believe otherwise. That's why we've just provided all of our employees with a Home & Travel Fire Safety Pack, giving them and their families true peace of mind.

As fire safety experts, we train organisations day in, day out to manage fire risks in the workplace.

However, for us, the safety of our team at home is just as critical.

By ensuring our team has the right tools to stay safe no matter the hour, we embrace our values both inside and outside the office.

Does your organisation extend its safety initiatives beyond the workplace? Let's discuss…

Holiday mode is well and truly in full swing☀️🍹

A friendly reminder: if your fire marshal is taking a well deserved break, you must ensure there are other trained individuals to take on their responsibilities.

Fire safety doesn’t take a break ❌

September is just around the corner ⏰

New academic year. New students. Maybe even new staff. And yet, for many schools and multi-academy trusts, the same fire safety training that hasn’t been updated in three years.

It’s a common compliance gap in the education sector that often goes overlooked…

Staff turnover means that trained staff leave and more often than not don’t get replaced.

New buildings or changes to site layouts don’t get reflected in evacuation plans and procedures.

But nobody notices until it’s too late ❌

Ahead of the new term, ask yourself:

🧯Are your current fire marshals still employed with you?
🗓️When was your last fire training session?
🏫Have any significant changes been made to your site since your last fire risk assessment?
👩‍🏫Do new staff understand their responsibilities during an emergency?

Now is the time to double check.

We work with schools and multi-academy trusts across the UK to deliver fire marshal training that’s tailored to education environments.

If your fire safety measures need updating before the new academic year, contact us to see how we can help.

Are you jetting off on holiday this summer? ✈️ Here’s a statistic we hope makes you rethink how you pack your lithium-powered devices…

Across summer, around 30 million passengers are expected to depart from the UK, each carrying an average of four lithium-powered devices. That’s around 120 million lithium batteries travelling through UK airports this summer. 📈

These batteries are found in everyday items, including power banks, v**es, wireless headphones, laptops and mobile phones, and can pose serious fire risks if they’re damaged or packed incorrectly.

Just last week, a Swiss International Air Lines flight was forced to divert after a passenger’s wireless headphones became trapped between seats, causing them to overheat and fill the cabin with smoke.

With the current peak in travel, the UK Civil Aviation Authority is reminding passengers that:
🔋Power banks, spare lithium batteries and v**es should always be carried in your hand luggage.
⚠️ If a device becomes hot, damaged or starts smoking during a flight, alert the cabin crew immediately.

Taking this advice on board (literally) may be the difference between a safe flight and an emergency landing.
