🌿Forest School🌿

Over the last few weeks in our Forest School sessions we have:
🐦‍⬛ Made bird feeders by mixing lard and bird seed together. We then pressed this mixture into our cups and used string to hang them from our chosen spots around Forest School. We noticed they were all empty when we visited the following week!
🌼🌸 Been on a hunt for signs of spring. Joyce read us a story all about change, and we talked about what changes we might see around us as we head into spring. We then took our checklists around with us to see what we could spot! We used our eyes, ears and even felt the warm sun on our faces ☀️
🪶🪹 Created our very own nests. We coloured in our birds but realised they needed some help to make their nests. We went foraging around Forest School for some bendy twigs, sphagnum moss and mud. We put these into our trays and placed our birds on top - we thought they looked very comfy!

World Book Day Celebrations

We have been so busy over the last couple of weeks with lots of activities linked to some of our favourite stories.
We have read and reviewed some books, thinking about how the stories made us feel and what we liked about them.
🫘 We have planted our own beanstalks for Jack
🥪 Made sandwiches for Little Red Riding Hood to take to her Granny
🐅 Decorated biscuits for the Tiger Who Came to Tea
🎨 Made our own Gruffalo
🐷 Built houses for the Three Little Pigs using sticks, straw and bricks
🐘Created our very own Elmer with glue and coloured tissue paper
📚 And shared lots of stories with our friends!

🎶Nursery Rhyme Week🎶

We celebrated our favourite nursery rhymes last week with lots of different activties:
🥚Building walls for Humpty Dumpty
🐸Colour sorting our 5 Speckled Frogs
✂️Practicing our cutting skills with Twinkle Twinkle
⭐️ Creating sparkly star pictures
🎨Fine motor finger painting
🎤Plus lots of singing and action rhymes

And we even had time to rescue the trapped items from the ice blocks using our pipettes and tools! 🧊⚒️

Here are just a few of the things we have been getting up to over the last few weeks at Pre-school and Nursery:
🌷We have been busy planting some bulbs in our garden - we are looking forward to seeing them bloom in the springtime!
🪨We explored our Forest School area, looking for different flora and fauna. We used what we found, along with hammers and rocks to create beautiful cards to take home.
🕷️We had a messy sensory story called ‘Spider Sandwiches’ which was lots of fun!
🎆And we have been exploring different firework patterns in the glitter tray using paintbrushes.

Pre-school and Nursery are looking for the right person to join us as an Early Years Educator.

The successful applicant should have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Early Years and be able to work between the hours of 7.45am to 3.30pm, four days per week during term time.

Our forest school session was a great success last week. Everyone enjoyed investigating the area and making their own collection of seasonal items to work collaboratively towards our autumn collage.
We enjoyed snack in the sunshine, singing together, exploring the fruits and fauna that we found, searching for bugs in the bug hotel and negotiating branches to find a way into the willow wigwam. We ended our session by singing our goodbye to forest school song and will look forward to our next session.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our leavers for our wonderful gifts and we wish you every success in your new schools.

Pre-school reopens on Wednesday 3rd September at 8am for the beginning of the autumn term. We are looking forward to welcoming our returning children and families, plus our new starters.

Hope you’re all having a lovely summer!
