Matchborough School Club, Bright Kids, Redditch, Worcestershire Welcome to Matchborough out of school club based at Matchborough First School Academy in Redditch. We are delighted with our successful partnership

During term time our popular Breakfast Club opens at 8.00am. After providing a healthy breakfast, we es**rt the children to their classrooms in time for school. After school we open between 3.30pm until 6pm. Children are collected from their classrooms and can then relax and unwind in our secure, yet stimulating environment. A healthy snack tea is provided and children can play with friends or sta

rt their homework if parents wish. At Matchborough we offer a wide range of fun play activities and have access to many of the school’s facilities including the large hall and spacious playground. We use the Playwork Principles to deliver our ‘learning through play’ philosophy. We also embrace the Play Objectives which help our staff provide an interesting, challenging and suitable play environment for children. We offer a Holiday Club Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm during school holidays at our Crabbs Cross and our Studley settings.

Here’s some of our highlights from last term…

⭐ New Year Stars - children set their own personal goals for the year ahead, focusing on growth rather than resolutions.

❄️ Frost & Snow inspired giant snowflake creations and beautiful snowdrop drawings to welcome January.

👑 Dressing up and imaginative play has been hugely popular, alongside personalised pencil holders filled with sparkles, castles and dinosaurs!

🧱 International Lego Day turned into a whole week of building challenges - the creativity and teamwork on show was fantastic.

💛 Children's Mental Health Week saw us exploring belonging, feelings, breathing techniques, mindfulness colouring and cosy jigsaw time together.

🍞 Our younger ones have loved preparing toast at breakfast club - building confidence and life skills one slice at a time

We are so proud of every single one of our children. And a huge well done to last term's team winners - Penny's Apple Sours! 🍏

We wanted to take a moment to look back on what was a wonderfully busy and festive end to last term at club. It was such a joyful few weeks, full of creativity, laughter and shared moments together 🎄😊

The children packed so much into the run-up to Christmas. They created wax and watercolour firework pictures, explored printing and painting with glitter paints and pipe cleaners (very messy but very fun 😄), and welcomed a little visitor called Snowflake the Elf. He caused a tiny bit of mischief and even set an elf drawing competition – keeping everyone on their toes 😉

Some of our festive highlights included:
🎄 Decorating the Christmas trees on Tree Dressing Day
☃️ Creating fabulous snowman artwork
✉️ Making Christmas cards for family
📸 Creating a special photo for parents at home
☕ Enjoying an extra festive snack time with hot chocolate
🎨 Making some of the longest paper chains we’ve ever seen, alongside lots of amazing child-led creations

We were especially proud to celebrate our young artists whose artwork was chosen to be published in the Food Friends book – such a fantastic achievement. Well done everyone 👏✨

🏆 Team Winners for the Term 🏆
🥇 1st place – Leanne’s Bubblegum Millions (an amazing team effort with over 100 team points!)
🥈 2nd place – Team Apple Sours
🥉 3rd place – Team Strawbs

It was incredibly close, and we’re so proud of all the children for their teamwork, creativity and enthusiasm 💛

✨ Celebrating our Stars of the Week 🌟
✨ Sending our mascot Octo on his first home adventure 🐙
✨ Taking part in the Young Artists Competition – Food Friends 🎨
✨ Marking and “leaving our mark” with creative dot designs 🟣

Looking ahead to the rest of this month, we’re excited to celebrate 💚 in support of YoungMinds with some fun fundraising activities including:

We hope everyone is enjoying their Summer Holiday ☀️ We thought whilst we're closed we could take a look back on earlier this year and what we got up to...

June was a whirlwind of discovery, creativity, and plenty of smiles! We began with , watching our tiny caterpillars transform into graceful butterflies before releasing them into the wild 🦋 The magic inspired beautiful drawings, crafts, origami creations – and even a little naming ceremony where we picked butterfly names from a pot.

For 🌊 we made vibrant wax and paint posters to raise awareness, and our How to Draw challenge uncovered some truly amazing artistic talent. Our brand new dressing-up rail, complete with superhero capes, sparked endless imaginative adventures... from heroic rescues to running our very own shops 🦸‍♀️

The hairdressing station was a big hit too, with Leanne, Anita, and Emma bravely stepping in as models for some very creative styles 💇‍♀️ We were also so proud to receive our copy of Mythical Madness, featuring artwork by our very own published artists!

Nature inspired more art as we learned about the meanings of June’s flowers... roses for love and passion, hawthorns for hope and protection 🌹 while den building turned the club into magical hideaways. And to top it all off, our Club Coordinator Leanne completed her Wellbeing Champion course with Place2Be, helping us continue to nurture every child’s emotional wellbeing 💛
