A tight game at the John Keegan stadium tonight as Marske Utd U-21’s came away with the 3 points following a hard fought 1-0 victory over Chester-le-Street U-21’s.

A wonder strike from 25 yards from Will Gibbons in the 72nd minute saw Marske take a lead that they never gave up as they held on to a clean sheet.

As a whole, the team controlled the game well and should have taken a 2 goal lead into half time but they couldn’t convert their chances.

The 2nd half followed a similar trend to the 1st but Chester-le-Street battled hard which at times made the game scrappy and allowed them to create chances but Marske defended resolutely to ensure that a single goal was enough to take the points.

While the team as a whole put in a strong shift there were a few performances to call out, firstly the back 5 of Oli Wray, George Arundell, Noah Wilson, Will Robinson and Issac Hogarth didn’t do much wrong all night as they controlled the tempo of the game from the back with some great through balls to turn defence into attack.

On the wing Ben Riddiough was back to his best tormenting the full backs and covering every blade of grass.

MOTM this week however goes to George Arundell who was outstanding defensively and a also a menace going forward, he nearly capped his fine performance with a goal late on but unfortunately his shot flashed over the cross bar.

Thanks to everyone who came down to support tonight, (correction) next week we are again at home on Thursday 15th October to league leaders Swalwell U-21’s 19:30 KO, free entry so with the 1sts at home on Tuesday you now have a feast of football to watch. Get yourselves down to the John Keegan Stadium to cheer both sides on.

Last week, we ran the Redcar & Eston qualifying round for the FA Cleveland Year 5&6 Pokémon Football ⚽️

League games finally returning for the lads ❤️

After the 1st teams exciting 3-2 win over high flying Shildon this evening football returns to the John Keegan stadium on Thursday night as Marske Utd U-21’s open their league campaign with a home game against Swalwell U-21’s.

With kickoff at 19:30 and free entry why not come down and support the U-21’s who hope to start the season with a win.

Hot drinks and refreshments will be available from The Kabin up until half time - cash only.

The U12 Girls returned to winning ways this morning with an impressive victory over Darlington Locomotives at Green Lane.

In high winds the team performed well defensively which was the platform for getting all 3 points today. And having only the bare 9 players due to holidays and injuries the girls knew this was going to be a battle.

But every one of the girls put a shift in and we got what we deserved in the end for the fantastic work rate on display. Counter-attacking football at its best 💪🏼
