Happy World Food Safety Day!
Taking place annually on 7 June, World Food Safety Day is designed to raise awareness of the prevention, detection and management of foodborne risks.
This year’s theme, ‘From burden to solutions – safe food everywhere’, highlights the importance of using public health data and science-based evidence to drive targeted solutions and policy priorities.
Foodborne diseases continue to impact millions of people globally, affecting health, livelihoods, education and economies - yet many cases remain preventable.
We are proud to support the food industry at every stage of this journey, helping ensure the food reaching consumers is safe, compliant and exactly what it should be.

'For me, a fulfilling career has not been about status. It was about curiosity, readiness, and the willingness to recognise and grasp opportunities when they appeared, especially the unexpected ones.'
Few people embody this mindset better than Angold. An RSSL icon, Roger has built a distinguished career spanning over 50 years, becoming one of the UK’s most respected food scientists and a leading expert in microscopy and spectroscopy. Even into his 80s, he continues working with us and remains a trusted voice in the industry today.
We recently had the pleasure of catching up with Roger to reflect on his remarkable journey. From making the most of unexpected opportunities, to the importance of respect in professional relationships, to the resilience shaped by growing up in the wake of WWII - his insights are as relevant today as ever.
