Meet our first judge on the judging panel, Professor Liz Bentley.

As the Chief Executive of the Royal Meteorological Society, Liz has been judging since the very beginning of the competition. Liz has had a successful career in meteorology working with the Met Office, BBC Weather Centre and the Ministry of Defence after studying a PhD in mathematics at the University of Manchester.

She brings decades of weather expertise and loves uncovering the science behind your amazing shots.

The entries for the Weather Photographer of the Year 2026 competition officially close at midnight tonight (BST). This is your final call to submit your striking images that capture the power, beauty and impact of weather and climate.

Entry is free and open worldwide, and we welcome submissions from amateur photographers as well as experienced professionals.

Already entered an image in one category? Take another look at your portfolio – it may also be suitable for another category. For example, if you’ve submitted a photograph for the Climate Award, it could also be a strong contender for the main Weather Photographer of the Year category, provided it meets the entry criteria.

You can submit up to five images per category, with a maximum of 15 images across the three categories.

Entries are judged by an international panel of experts from the fields of meteorology, photography and journalism. Returning as one of our official media partner, the ITV Weather team brings years of expert forecasting and broadcasting experience to the judging panel.

For example, an image entered for the Climate Award may also be a strong contender for the main Weather Photographer of the Year category, provided it meets the entry criteria.
