RUBSS Reading University Biological Sciences Society WELCOME TO THE READING UNI BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES SOCIETY!!! Who are we? What do you get as a member?

We are Reading Uni Biological Sciences Society!! Our aim is to gather students within the School of Biological Sciences, and create a network for members to have fun and learn! The committee is composed of:
Maddie Thompson- President
Edd Jones- Vice President
Laura Hartle- Secretary
Becky Woodgate- Treasurer
Jack Lines- Male Social Sec
Gaby Coghlan- Female Social Sec
Warwick Mackie- Academic Rep

So why does RUBSS exist? This society was founded as a way for all disciplines of Biology to mingle in a relaxed setting outside of lectures and labs. The society strives to organise fun, relaxing social environments where you can chill with your course mates and meet up with groups without thinking about work! Apart from amazing socials, what else does RUBSS do? We are in currently contact with a number of fantastic lecturers who have expressed interest in helping us bring extracurricular sources of interesting and beneficial information to our members. These lectures will be on fresh and exciting topics that have been in the news or that are based on the fascinating research that we do at Reading Uni! We're also hoping to organise some events to raise money for charity too, so it should be a very exciting jam-packed year!! For £8, you have membership to the Biological Society for the whole year and get discounted merchandise and tickets to our brilliant socials!! Any queries or worried about anything? Either post it on here or email us! [email protected]

Hey guys, just a heads up that the last day to buy tickets for the annual AGM Biology ball is THIS FRIDAY!

6 academics have now confirmed their attendance including the great Rob Jackson and Andy Bicknell!

On another note, if you would to like to run for one of the committee positions for 2016/17 you can start posting your manifestos TODAY (feel free to post on all RUBSS pages with a bit about yourself and why you'll want to go for the position etc etc)

Committee positions for 2016/17 are up for grabs!
- President - Runs the society
- Secretary - In charge of recording meeting minutes
- Treasurer - In charge of our RUSU bank account and all money related things
- Welfare officer - Attends 'I Heart Consent' training and responsible for avoiding conflicts and lad culture in the society
- Academic representative - In charge of all things academic including attending regular Society of Biology meetings
- Male social secretary - Organises all social activities (including nights out) and works alongside the welfare officer
- Female social secretary - Organises all social affairs (including nights out) and works alongside the welfare officer

If you want to ask us ANYTHING about the society/ball/available positions then please ask me or one of the committee members.

How it all works?
- You MUST come to the ball if you would like to be on the committee
- The week leading up to the ball we will open online voting for committee positions
- At the ball you'll get to do a quick speech and everyone attending the ball will get a SECOND vote (so the more friends you bring to the ball, the higher chance of getting the position you're aiming for!)
