✈️ BYP x Jet2: Building the next generation of pilots

Our founder, Patrick Tame, recently visited Oxford Airline Training to meet with Josh and Sam from the Jet2 Pilot Recruitment Team.

The visit gave us the opportunity to explore the incredible facilities at Oxford Airline Training, including the Diamond twin aircraft, engineering facilities and flight simulators — from professional Airbus and Boeing simulators to the desktop simulators used for pilot training.

It was particularly exciting to see just how closely some of the desktop simulator technology mirrors the systems used in professional flight training. 🚀

We also had some great conversations with the Jet2 team about the future of pilot recruitment and how we can inspire more young people to see aviation as a career.

Jet2 has an incredible culture and a clear ambition to be the career choice for pilots — something that really aligns with what we want to achieve at British Young Pilots.

We’re excited about the possibility of working together and helping the next generation of young pilots understand where their passion for aviation could take them. ✈️

A huge thank you to Josh and Sam for taking the time to meet with us!

And make sure you swipe all the way to the end… 👀😂

Another year of BYP ✈️✨

As we get closer to the start of a new academic year, we’ve been looking back at what’s been a brilliant year across BYP 💙🧡

From first flights and school clubs, to evening and weekend sessions, it’s been amazing to see how much our students have learnt, achieved and grown in confidence over the past year.

A huge congratulations to every one of our students — whether you’ve just completed your first term with us, or you’ve been with BYP for longer and have completed your Intermediate courses and are now ready to progress onto our Advanced syllabus👏

And now, it’s almost time to do it all again!🤩🤩

All of our September clubs are now confirmed and we’re so excited to welcome everyone back for another term 🚀

Links for next term have now been sent out. If you haven’t received yours, please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help.

It’s been another busy week for our instructors young pilots, with sessions covering everything from AAIB and Concorde to drones, engineering, navigation, air ambulances, the A320 and ATC (and plenty more!) 🤩😆✨

Looking back on our Museum Club journey, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come ✨

At the beginning of this year, we launched our very first Museum Clubs at the Army Flying Museum, The Shuttleworth Collection and the Fleet Air Arm Museum. We were incredibly grateful (and, if we’re honest, a little in disbelief!) that these iconic aviation museums believed in our vision.

Since then, we’ve been proud to expand to Aerospace Bristol and Brooklands Museum, and this September we’re excited to welcome The Helicopter Museum as our sixth Museum Club venue.

Our Museum Clubs are about so much more than learning in a classroom. Being surrounded by historic aircraft, fascinating exhibits and aviation history creates an experience that inspires curiosity, builds confidence and brings aviation to life for every young person who joins us.

A huge thank you to all of our museum partners for helping us inspire the next generation of pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers and aviation enthusiasts. 💙

🎉 This September, every one of our Museum Clubs is welcoming a brand new intake.

If you know a young person aged 11-16 who would love to explore the world of aviation, we’d love to welcome them.

What a day at the Farnborough Airshow! 🤩✈️

Our instructors were non-stop from start to finish, and it was great to catch up with some of our own students as well as local Army Cadets who stopped by to say hello.

There’s nothing better than seeing the aviation community come together. Thanks to everyone who came to see us and thank you to Farnborough Airshow for having us! 🧡

Another Friday, another Future Pilot! 🧑‍✈️

This week marked the start of our 2026 Summer Holiday Clubs, and we wanted to celebrate the achievements of Michael, one of our Northern Ireland Holiday Club students🤩

Over the week, Michael has learnt about aircraft restoration, the Air Ambulance, air traffic control, navigation, and aircrew safety! 🚁🗺️✈️ He has tackled every challenge with enthusiasm, and we've loved having him on board.

One highlight was seeing Michael outshine his own instructor by achieving an 'A' in the infamous St. Barts Landing Challenge on the simulator! 😎

A huge well done to Michael, and to all of the fantastic students at our Northern Ireland Holiday Club! 🧡
