Padworth College opened its doors for international students in 1963 and we have recently celebrated the College's 60th Anniversary, welcoming over 100 alumni and former staff back on campus. The first summer school students enrolled in the summer of 1964 and since then, we have operated a summer school at Padworth for almost 60 years through to the pandemic.
Having recently celebrated our 60th birthday, we are delighted to announce the re-launch of the Padworth Summer School for 2024.
Padworth Summer School will be led by Gavin Ayre, who has recently joined us to take up a new role as Director of Padworth Summer School. Gavin has a wealth of experience in international education, including running summer school programmes for international students. Gavin will be supported by the senior team at Padworth, including Crispin Dawson Betty Dagistan and Charlie Freer.
With a strong academic focus, our two-week Summer School courses are designed to be highly dynamic and enjoyable, providing students from all over the world with the chance to delve into subjects they are passionate about. Three courses will be available in 2024: Global English, Explore STEM and Discover Business. All three courses will allow students to fully unlock their potential and lay the groundwork for future success by stimulating intellectual curiosity; developing key skills; providing real-life opportunities to embed skills through academic trips; and providing insight that enhances learning through guest speaker talks. Education extends beyond the classroom, which is why our courses will also offer an action-packed leisure programme that includes thrilling trips, sports, and a variety of activities to keep students engaged and enable them to discover new interests.

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome over 100 former students and staff to Padworth to celebrate the College’s 60th anniversary. Established in 1963 by Oxford Professor, Peter Fison as an international girls’ school, Padworth is today one of the oldest international schools in the UK, attracting students from more than 20 countries around the world to study I/GCSEs, A Levels and foundation programmes. Many thanks to all those who attended yesterday and especially those who shared their special memories from their time at Padworth.

Padworth College is delighted that our GCSE students have produced another excellent set of exam results; the strongest the school has had for at least 5 years. Nearly a third of the grades awarded were 9-7 (A*-A) with nearly half of the grades awarded being 9-6 (A*-B).
Students come to Padworth from the local area around Reading and from across the world to take advantage of small class sizes and a supportive environment to achieve these excellent grades.
Padworth’s Principal, Crispin Dawson commented: "These are excellent results, and each individual student can be proud of everything they have achieved. Padworth is certainly proud of them. Students who have only been with us for the 1 Year I/GCSE programme have made enormous progress in a short time. Their exam results are just one measure of their success, and I know each of them has developed as a person. They move onto their A Levels or NCUK foundation qualifications with real confidence. I am grateful to all their teachers for the hard work they put in to get the best from each individual student."

The whole community at Padworth congratulates our recent leavers on their A Level results which were published yesterday. Just under 50% of all grades awarded were A*-B with some fantastic individual stories. Overall, 73% of grades awarded were A*-C. Every member of the Year 13 cohort has been accepted to either their first or second choice university including some very prestigious seats of learning such as University College London
Combined with the NCUK - The University Consortium results, which were published last month, this cohort of students have achieved significant success and will go on to university ready to thrive there. Crispin Dawson Principal, commented: "These were a great group of students who gave so much to our community. They worked hard, led our College with real distinction, and I know they will go on to make a difference."

The thoughts of all the Padworth College community are with the Royal Family on the sad occasion of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. She was a fine example to all of humility, dignity and service.

Padworth College is celebrating this year’s Year 13 graduating students, who yesterday saw the culmination of two years of hard work and achieved an impressive set of A Level results.
Overall, 53% of grades awarded were A*-B, while 23% of all grades achieved were A*-A grade.
Commenting on the results, Lorraine Atkins, Principal remarked: “We are delighted with the strong performance of Padworth College students in the first year of traditional A Level examinations since 2019. This year’s results at Padworth are much closer to our 2021 results than our 2019 results, with 53% of grades awarded being A*-B, highlighting the strong performance by our students. The Senior Leadership Team at the College could not be prouder of these results and it reflects the resilience of the students and fantastic support of the teaching, boarding and support staff at the College during the Covid-19 pandemic. The students have worked extremely hard and remained focused throughout their studies.
Over the next few days, our Year 13 students will be finalising their university choices. With many of the cohort securing places at Russell Group universities, they have some exciting opportunities ahead. A special mention to Danel from Kazakhstan (AAA) who has been offered a place at Imperial College London to study Biological Sciences and Jessica from the UK (A*AA) who has been offered a place at Cardiff University to study Mechanical Engineering.
We wish all of our Year 13 cohort every success at their chosen universities.

Last week, we celebrated International Day at Padworth. An important fixture in our academic calendar, International Day celebrates the diversity of our international community. Alongside a feast of food from around the world prepared by students, we enjoyed a variety of entertainment from Ghana, Moldova, Peru and many other countries, plus a wonderful display of national dress. Well done to all involved!
