Great to see Reading FC Players Kelvin Abrefa and Daniel Kyerewaa drop in at our Cantley Soccer School

Both players took part in a Q&A with the group, answering questions and sharing a bit about life as a professional footballer. They then stayed on for photos and spent time signing boots, shirts and tops, making sure everyone went home with a memento of the day.

The camp is part of the Kellogg's Football Camps, delivered by Reading FC Community Trust, giving children the chance to develop their skills, stay active and enjoy their football during the school holidays.

There are still a few places left at our camps so for last minute bookings please head to https://reading-fc-community-trust.classforkids.io/

Lewis Wing and Liam Fraser share valuable lessons at our South Reading HAF Camp...

There were some big smiles at our HAF Camp today as Reading players Lewis Wing and Liam Fraser came down to spend time with the young people taking part.

Held at our South Reading Community Trust Hub in Whitley, the session gave the children the chance to hear first hand what it is really like to be a footballer. Lewis and Liam talked about how it is a process of constant improvement, and how you might not make it first time, but you have to keep trying. Lewis also spoke about leadership, and what the qualities of a good leader might be. All good lessons for the kids to take away, and all the more powerful coming straight from two players who have lived it.

The kids and players also took on the Citizen Watch time challenge, trying to guess when ten seconds had passed without looking at the clock. It made for some good fun and plenty of laughs, and we are pleased to report the kids were closest, edging out the players on the day.

The camp forms part of the government's Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, delivered locally by Reading FC Community Trust in partnership with Reading Borough Council. The programme provides children across the town with access to sport, activities and healthy meals during the school holidays, and the visit from the players gave those taking part a memorable moment alongside their sessions.

Fantastic that we had Jack Mariott and Paudie O Connor at our South Reading Hub last week. Too many great things to mention...from a birthday invitation for the players to come to a kid's party, to "will you celebrate your goals in front of me?!"

The camp forms part of the government’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, delivered locally by Reading FC Community Trust in partnership with Reading Borough Council. The programme provides eligible children across the town with access to sport, activities and healthy meals during the school holidays, and the visit from the first-team players gave those taking part a memorable moment alongside their sessions

Over the summer we see thousands of kids, some into football, some into sport, some not. Some are fans. Some are not. But every single one can talk about our community coaches and how they looked after them and that they met a Reading football player.

This is what community is about.
