Just a gentle reminder that bedtimes may be a little later tonight, but we still want to see your children in school on time in the morning! We’ll all be a bit tired, but let’s be in to discuss the great goals we’re hoping to see 😉

C’mon England!!

We had some fantastic events at Churchend last week that Mrs Slocombe was lucky to be part of. On Monday, Year 5 and 6 had a talk from the local PCSOs, as well as Amanda Stephens who leads Olly's work, a charity working on preventing knife crime and helping children to understand the negative impact of social media. On Wednesday, Years 2 and 4 were visited by 'Jonathan Jungles' who brought in a range of animals for them to hold and study, including this impressive snake. Friday ended the week with The Big Scoot, where children from across Churchend scooted around the school (including inside!) to raise much needed funds for Churchend's PTFA. What a week!

Wednesday was World Bee Day! 🐝🌼

Our Reception children learnt many fascinating facts about bees and why it is so important to protect them. They created heartfelt signs about the importance of bees, printed hives using paint and bubble wrap, and filled them with beautiful drawings of bees. They also made the cutest little bees from cardboard rolls and felt!

There was great excitement as everyone glued pasta together to create miniature beehives, and we planted poppy seedlings that had been grown from seed to help support pollinators. We finished the day by making honey sandwiches — a little sticky at times, but according to the children, absolutely “delicious”! 🍯

It’s so important that children learn about protecting these incredible insects and the vital role they play in our world.

A double celebration at Churchend today!
Our Nurture Team proudly received the Marjorie Boxall Quality Nurture Award, and we also celebrated the amazing Mrs Waters turning 80,she has been at Churchend 37 years! A huge thank you to Mrs Clark and Mrs Baines for the beautiful celebration cakes, and to our governors,parents and Sarah from Nurture UK for joining us.
A morning full of joy,celebration and pride.

Some of our Year 5s have been lending a hand in our Year 1 computing lessons! The children have shown amazing teamwork!

Well done to our Year 6 boys who won against All Saints on Friday. A hat trick from Enzo, 2 goals from Isaac and 2 goals from Leon made it a great 7-3 win! ⚽️

Reception had a fabulous Friday celebrating both Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday and the VE Day anniversary!
The children enjoyed making delicious chocolate chip cupcakes and cucumber sandwiches, and everyone brought along a special animal toy to join in the fun. We finished our celebrations with a wonderful picnic in our Forest School area (and did some litter picking too!)
As part of the day, the children practised their writing skills by creating birthday cards for Sir David. Their messages were thoughtful, honest, and full of care. Some children created placards, reminding us all how important it is to look after our beautiful planet and to care for one another too.
We are so proud of their creativity, kindness, and enthusiasm throughout such a special day!

Year 5 played a fantastic game of football against All Saints on Friday afternoon. It was a very tight match, ending 4-3 to Churchend with a goal from Joey and hat trick from Yorhion! Well done boys! ⚽️
