A quick note for our podcast listeners!

We've been asked about the book Lee mentioned in our recent podcast episode.

📖 Boosting Your Mental Wellbeing: 10 Minute Steps for Stressed Healthcare Professionals Using CBT and Mindfulness by Dr Lee David and Debbie Bruin.

If the discussion about boundaries, saying no and looking after yourself resonated with you, this practical guide might be worth adding to your reading list.

Lee is Red Whale's Mental Health Lead and teaches on our Mental Health course. https://ow.ly/koGq50ZzPn0

Have you read the book, or are there any wellbeing titles you'd recommend to colleagues?

"I just remember going, 'Yeah, that's fine'... when actually I didn't want to say that."

Sound familiar?

In our latest podcast episode, Nik is joined by Red Whale mental health lead Lee David to talk about something many of us struggle with: setting boundaries.

They explore why saying no can feel uncomfortable, how guilt shows up in our decision-making, and practical ways to communicate our needs while staying kind and professional.

It's a thoughtful, encouraging listen for anyone who feels they're always putting themselves last.

We recently asked you which areas of women's health you find most challenging in practice - the topic that resonated most was menopause and perimenopause.

Perhaps that's because the trickiest consultations are rarely the textbook ones. They're often the conversations where symptoms, evidence and patient preferences don't fit neatly into a guideline.

One comment also mentioned the challenge of health information on social media. With so much advice available online, helping patients make sense of conflicting messages can be a challenge in itself.

A good reminder that modern consultations often involve not just sharing evidence, but helping people interpret it too.
